With commit a594b7f90a682e2a9327b142138edb76ad8ba8ff the checks for input and output files with ':' were removed; while the input file is handled correctly by the disk_create API, an output filename with ':' could still be handled as specifying a transport, failing the last "qemu-img convert" call. Use the new qemu_input_filename helper to handle the output filename

The first patch is just some simple refactoring. See the second patch for a description of the new virt-sparsify --tmp option. I tested this using a loopback device as my temporary block device, and it seems to work fine for me. Federico .. this needs a BZ :-) Rich.

Instead of creating Guestfs handles and manually apply common options (e.g. debug and trace), use the open_guestfs in Common_utils. A lot of code runs 'qemu-img create' or 'truncate' to create blank disk images. In the past I resisted adding an API to do this, since it essentially duplicates what you can already do using other tools (ie. qemu-img). However this does simplify calling code quite a lot since qemu-img is somewhat error-prone to use (eg: don't try to create a disk called "foo:bar")

Hi, I was trying out virt-builder and noticed that in some directories I receive an error when the image is resized. For example, if I run the following command from my home directory it works fine: virt-builder rhel-7.4 --size 10G --output test.img If I run the same command from /tmp or /vms (my default libvirt pool), I see the following in my verbose output: virt-resize '--verbose'

Add a common debug function for printing debugging messages. It only emits the debug message when the verbose (-v) flag is used on the command line. It sends the output to stderr, which is flushed immediately after the message is printed (to help with debugging unexpected crashes). There are good arguments for sending the debug to either stdout or stderr, and almost all existing debug messages
