4.2 install w/250GB raid arrays won't boot
hi!
raid 1 arrays: I already have 2 systems running this same raid1 config.
1 sys has 2 120 gb
1 sys has 1 120gb and 1 200gb but matching the raid partitions
this system here that is giving me fits right now has 1 250gb and 1

results. Will not boot.
in druid, when I am config. the raid arrays, I always create the

Ordering of disks in laptop
I have a Lenovo laptop where I recently replaced the harddisk with a
Intel 530 240 Gb SSD (SATA III) on which I then installed Centos 6.5
which runs just fine albeit at SATA II speed. I then replaced the
DVD-drive in the Ultrabay with an identical Intel SSD, the
Ultrabay-adapter apparently uses a PATA-SATA bridge so this drive would
only run at PATA speed.
Being a Centos newbie, I am not

Cannot get CentOS to install
I used google but did not come up with anything current to solve my problem.
I have not tried any other search engines yet.
There is not a search for the CentOS list so I am creating a new post.
I have tested the CentOS 5.2 and RHEL 5.3 CD's and they passed.
I had to use linux mediacheck ide=nodma to get them to pass.
The newest releases seem to most times fail with just linux mediacheck.

CentOS 4 and Intel D965 motherboards
Does anyone have information on support for Intel D965-based motherboards for
CentOS 4 (i386)?
I've got a DG965RYCK that fails a CentOS 4.4 install early on (problems
scanning the PCI bus). Fedora Core 6 installs just fine.
If anyone has any information, or magic boot parameters to try, please let me
know. ("Works for me" is OK too).
Thanks much.

Problems with IDE RAID on specific motherboard
About 9 months ago, I made a policy decision to adopt RAID 1 on all systems I
admin. (about 20 systems, all told) It's been a long, slow process.
One of the systems is being upgraded from CentOS3 to CentOS4. It's been
rock-solid stable for over a year. It's a "frankenserver" with parts from all
over the place, maintained over years of active service.
Currently,

RAID/SCSI/IDE/SATA and a TE405P (or T100P) c ard. Should I expect problems?
Hello,
We use all SCSI PCI card hardware RAIDs on all 4 of our production Asterisk
servers. They all have Digium quad T1 cards and they all have from 2 to 4
T1s hooked up to them. We have had no noticable problems with dropped
calls/poor quality.
What are you looking to do with this system? what kind of traffic will be
going through these 4 T1s?

RAID 1 Post Install
Hello all,
I've got CentOS 5.2 installed on an old Pentium III server. The server is
used by a club at my school, and they are rapidly running out of room on the
internal IDE drives that are configured in software RAID 1.
I have a Silicon Image SATA controller in the server, and I was planning on
adding two more SATA hard drives to the computer.
Is there a GUI like Disk Druid for

Problem with dual-booting soft-RAID
I set up IDE software-RAID on a test machine for testing the recover

LSI software raid with centos 5.4
Hi,
I have been trying to install CentOS 5.4 on a Intel SR1530SHS, Intel S3200SH
mainboard.. It has a 3 x 1TB sata hotswap drives with LSI software raid
onboard.
I had configured the LSI to have Sata0 and Sata1 with raid 1 and the third
drive as a hotspare drive.
Format the harddisk and installation was a breeze. The server rebooted into
a blank screen and the cursor just keep blinking.
Please

Disk Druid - control RAID partition layout?
Is it possible to partition a disk with Disk Druid and control the order
of the partitions? I want to create my own boot and swap as RAID
partitions but Disk Druid won't keep them in the order I want, no
matter what I specify first. I've done this before by using fdisk
to make the partitions before starting Disk Druid but I thought
someone said this was an old bug and should have been

Extlinux & PXE Booting...
Thank you Paul for your suggestion. While implementing it, I found my
error. As usual, it was an oversight of something already documented.
When using MEMDISK for < 4MB images, {gpxe, ipxe}.usb files for example,
you have to APPEND harddisk.
Once that option was in place, I am now back to Syslinux perfection.
I have to confess, this area of SA is some of the most fun, as it is a

strange problem on regconizing /dev/sda and /dev/hda
I installed a 4.1 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.9-11.ELsmp (rpm) initially.
My box is tyan 5350 and a SATA harddisk
The install was successful and the harddisk was detected as /dev/sdaX
But strangely, when I first reboot my machine. The harddisk change to
/dev/hdaX
What is the problem ?

recently happend kernel panics regarding usb
Hi,
I'm experiencing recently happend kernel panics while making bacula
backups on my external USB harddisk. It first happened some days ago
while I was running 6.4-PRERLEASE. I then updated to 6.4-STABLE and
enabled all the kernel debugging stuff.
I've uploaded "screenshots" (including backtrace) here:

I'm now not sure if the external
