NFS options on kernel parameters
Hello, I am running an NFS server/PXE on a Cent OS 5.1 server. I have defined an NFS export with "no_root_squash" option in my /etc/exports file: # # NFS Export Files # /export/images *(rw,sync,no_root_squash) ... A client PXE boots as a diskless station to the above server into a root-NFS directory underneath the above /export/images export. When the client boots;

NFSroot is acting strange in CentOS5
Hello all, I have observed a problem with a diskless PXE client I am attempting to configure. PXE/NFS/DHCP/TFTPd server is running CentOS5.1 and the Diskless workstation's root and kernel was extracted from a CentOS5.1 (custom kernel due to setting to enable Root File System support). Problem: When the diskless client boots and logs in I notice that my root user is being squashed, even if I

openssh-based file transfers (e.g. rsync, scp, ...) are running 40 (!!) times faster via IPv4 than IPv6
Vincenzo, thanks for answering !!! As I found out before that this slow down only happens for encrypted transmissions, I've followed your suggestion and tested with a https-based download, from my Nextcloud instance on my VPS. Same slow speed when connecting via IPv6, and as fast as expected when connecting via IPv4. Just to confirm: There's NO dependency/relation between openssh and

BIND9/DNS lookups stopped working after upgrading our Comcast modem/gateway
OK here's our setup, we're running pfSense as our firewall/router. We have a dual-WAN with a Comcast Business Gateway and another local ISP. We're running Samba 4.7.6 as the AD DC & Bind 9.9.4. Here's the issue, we just upgraded our Comcast service to a higher speed & they replaced the modem/gateway. Everything was working fine, before the modem swap. Once they did

Logins differ for ip/DNS on ad dc
Thanks a lot for your help so far. The main reason I do not use vms is that the server is pretty limited in RAM so this would only be my last resort. To prevent confusion: srv.wie (192.168.1.50) is the same machine as smb.wie (192.168.1.55), I seperated them just now to debug the problem. > These look like they are being run on the DC, what about from the > windows clients ? > I did

bind or samba configuration preventing browsing network
I have a networking problem where I am not certain if the problem is samba or bind. I am still pretty much a nb at linux. The machine in question is running openSuSE 10.2 and is named rd1. I had samba working fine before I started to make it a WINS server and DNS host. I have a small LAN with no real administration functionality. The network is used for simple file sharing and dial-up
