Can't install IE6
Using wine 0.9.58 on Ubuntu 8.04
Like an idiot, I tried to install IE7 before doing the research to find that IE6 was more ideal with far fewer problems. So after attempting to install IE7 and failing, I tried to install IE6, but in the terminal I get this response after typing wine ie6setup.exe:
Warning: the specified System directory L"C:\\windows\\system32" is not accessible.

Wine
Hello,
I want to run some program with Wine in a headless server. However, I want to access it via VNC, so I am using Xvnc (vncserver is a wrapper script) from tightvnc as a X server. But I have a problem: wine doesn't detect the display of the X server. This is what happens:
Code:
[martin at urano ~]$ DISPLAY=:1
[martin at urano ~]$ vncserver :1
New 'X' desktop is urano:1 (...)

WINE doesn't work after kernel upgrade
After updating linux kernel from 2.6.26 to 2.6.30 on Debian GNU/Linux testing amd64 (kernel from repositaries) Wine doesn't work. Neither 1.1.27 (development), nor 1.0.1 (stable).
It can't open object files -- there are no such object files.

outdated information from 2005 or 2003.
First, I downloaded ie6setup.exe for 6_sp1 in English from

Start two wine instances for two users
Hello,
currently I am trying to create two running instances of a windows application. The crux is that I need two different users.
The first application is started under the current logged in user (user1). I have a bash script that exports a new wine prefix and starts the application in a new window (e.g. wine explorer /desktop=0,1152x890 explorer)
But next I like to start a second instance.

Internet Explorer installs under wine as default Win2K but then crashes when run...
I want to run Internet Explorer as Win2K at the very least so I might be able
to get updates, trying to keep up with security fixes... this might be a pipe
dream?
I would rather not run anything as Win98 if I can help it...
In any case, what I did was, from a clean install of Wine 0.9 on Fedora Core
4, ran
[user@localhost ~]$ wine
wine: creating configuration directory
