[Bug 108651] Screen flickering when using compositor with OpenGL backend
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108651 --- Comment #2 from Yuxuan Shui <yshuiv7 at gmail.com> --- compton itself does not have lots of dependencies. Right now all the users experienced this problem seems to be using the i3 window manager, I don't know if this is reproducible with windowmaker. I don't know the mesa version they use, I will ask. But judging that they are

very large difference between df and du (10 GB, hard to believe)
Hello, I have a small server running a tool (RT : perl + mysql + apache) for our support team. I stripped down everything else. The OS is CentOS 4.8. I noticed a difference between df and du which is hard to believe : according to df, I am using 29 GB [root at cedrat-rt ~]$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 33G 29G 2.8G 92% / none

hard to believe speed difference
First, I love R and am grateful to be using this free and extremely high quality software. Recently I have been comparing two algorithms and naturally I programmed in R first. It is so slow that I can almost feel its pain. So I decided to do a comparison with Java. To draw 500,0000 truncated normal, Java program takes 2 second and R takes 72 seconds. Not a computer science major, I find it hard

optim or nlminb for minimization, which to believe?
I have constructed the function mml2 (below) based on the likelihood function described in the minimal latex I have pasted below for anyone who wants to look at it. This function finds parameter estimates for a basic Rasch (IRT) model. Using the function without the gradient, using either nlminb or optim returns the correct parameter estimates and, in the case of optim, the correct standard

cifs fix and smb3 protocol status.
Hai,   ( not all on samba topic but one i wanted to share. )   I did read :  https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/LinuxCIFSKernel mainly because of, from that page, 4.7 Kernel Fix badlock regression for guest mounts (mount with -o guest can fail to Samba servers when patched for badlock). I encountered such a problem yesterday. Luckly not in the office..   The fix. Cifs.ko version

Newbie to Samba (digest 1798)
When the world was young, Sandie carved some runes like this: > Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 10:23:24 -0600 > From: shui@yxepna01.pointsnorth.com > To: samba@anu.edu.au > Subject: Newbie to Samba [snip] > 1. Re-How to enable domain logon from NT workstation
Hi, This is really a follow on from Sandie's (shui@pointsnoth.com) problem of using samba to act as a domain logon server for NT Workstation 4. I have tried using samba2alpha8 (on Linux 2.0) and have failed to get the domain logon working from NT Workstation although Windows98 worked fine. I followed the instructions in Samba NT Domain FAQ apart from the use of encrypted passwords which

trivial grammatical patch
Hi. Debug message "No RSA1 key file blah" misled me for a few seconds earlier today. The message is meaning to say "key file blah is not an RSA1 key file", whereas I interpreted it to mean "key file blah does not exist". SIP client to IAXTel 800/888/877/866 dialing thru Asterisk
Through my Asterisk server, I am trying to use IAXTel to dial 800-type numbers (yes, I know I can do the same thing with FWD and others via SIP, but I wanted to play with IAX a little). It appears I'm running into some sort of a codec mismatch or something because it's not working right. The SIP client is a SPA-3000. In iax.conf, I have something like the following: [General]

Win2k Master Browser believes Linux box is master browser
Hi, We currently have a very small network with a Windows Small Business Server acting as an ADS Master Browser, we also have a Debian Sarge Samba Server, this sharing a single directory at the Share level (security is not really that dig a concern, as this is open to anyone in the company). The Samba server has the workgroup set the the same domain as the Windows ADS, but it has not joined
