Installing RHEL On Laptop.....
Not sure if this is the right place to come to, but I don't have "RHN" support.....I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have downloaded the RHEL .ios file and burned it to DVD/CD, my laptop is primed to Boot From CD/ROM Drive, I start the installation using the semi-graphical interface, and the first few options are a breeze, then it gets to identifying the CD drive

Bug#588310: Xen enabled kernel cannot find the / partition
Package: xen-hypervisor-3.4-amd64 and linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Version: 3.4.3-1 and 2.6.32-15 Hello all, GRUB-PC does not automatically populate Xen related parameters in /boot/grub/grub.cfg so I added them manually (see below). All the packages involved on my Dell PowerEdge R710 running Debian GNU/Linux Squeeze AMD64 are from the Squeeze repository. There are four (4) 1TB SATA HDD

Nouveau on GeForce GTX 980M
Hi, I was wondering is it possible to can get my GeForce GTX 980M work with Nouveau. I see that the non "M" version if GTX 980 is supported ( https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames/) but not the "M" version, how different are they? Now it uses Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe, from my understanding that's fallback using the cpu right? *lshw -C video:* *-display

Reset audio controller w/o rebooting?
As I mentioned on a thread about flash-plugin a few days ago, I'm having trouble with my sound device getting "stuck" and thereby causing problems for anything that accesses it, like video playback. Rebooting the machine "fixes" it for a while, but it's unpredictable for how long -- sometimes months go by without it recurring, sometimes it happens every couple of days.

CentOS 3 - I/O performance with Promise HW RAID
(Suggestions for other forums in which to post this question are welcome.) We have CentOS 3.6 x86_64 running on a server with dual 2.2GHz Opterons and a Promise UltraTrak RM8000 connected via an Adaptec SCSI card. We are seeing what seems to be gradual I/O performance degradation over time; it seems to be OK for up to about 90 days, but not long after that both CPUs end up continuously spending

Dell Lattitude E5430 -- split screen
Dear All, I installed CentOs on a brand new Dell Lattitude E5430. I did a minimal install, then did a "yum groupinstall Desktop" and I installed xorg-x11-drv-intel.i686. Also, I installed a i686 CentOs on a 64bit system, thinking because it has 4Gb or ram, It makes no difference. The screen is split top to bottom on the left hand side. This was quickly solved by adding

Portal crashes when I click new game.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with the newest version of Wine. I'm relatively new to Linux, but I do understand the basics of terminal. I have Portal installed on the Steam platform in Ubuntu through Wine, and when I open it, it all starts up beautifully, but when it gets to the main menu, some objects are missing in the background and you can see some glitched up areas. Then, when I click

cciss solution for CentOS 7
I've recently come across a thread in the CentOS forums [0] regarding the solution to getting hardware requiring the cciss driver, such as HP ProLiant G5 systems, to install and boot with CentOS 7. The thread was a start in the right direction, but I believe I've determined a better workflow and feel that it would benefit the community to have this published either in the release

hardware issues? driver issues?
Got a bunch of servers from Penguin. Supermicro m/b's H8QG6. We put a 3tb drive in for additional workspace for the users, and some of them won't read, others will go for weeks, then spit out DRDY errors. lshw shows the controller as an ATI SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 SATA. I did notice that it shows *-storage description: SATA controller product: SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 SATA

Nouveau: kernel hang on Optimus+Intel+NVidia GeForce 1060m
I am still looking for a solution. I have hacked around in the code and found out the following: - Nouveau prefers using PCIE power managemet over ACPI Optimus calls. I tried to force it to use Optimus ACPI calls, but there was an error calling the ACPI method so it bails out and uses PCIE PM anyway. - I tried to debug the PCIE pm states which internally uses ACPI to turn power on/off. I could

Nouveau: kernel hang on Optimus+Intel+NVidia GeForce 1060m
Thanks Tobias, I tried this but unfortunately the only effect was thta the boot was delayed by an additional 4 seconds :( The original timeout is at drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nvkm/subdev/secboot/ls_ucode_msgqueue.c I tried to increase that timeout, but it did not seem to make a difference either. I think I get this error less often when I have a cable plugged in the output of that card at boot,

Nouveau: kernel hang on Optimus+Intel+NVidia GeForce 1060m
Hi, the system fails to initialize your vbios using secureboot (i had a rare chance to on my system to witness it again), for now i traced it to acr_boot_falcon() in "linux/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nvkm/falcon/msgqueue_0148cdec.c" where it throws -110 which is -ETIMEDOUT. You could try to increase the timeout and see if it helps something, similar to the following: diff --git
