I am on a Macbook 4,1 with 4GB ram and X3100 GPU running 10.5.6, VMware Fusion 2.0.2 and CxGames 7.2. I am trying to get Runes of Magic to run, and I think it has something to do with wine. Odd behavior in an exclude-file
I decided the most secure way to deal with backup/firewall issues between my work and home was to encrypt a portable hard drive and make it my backup. Lug it back and forth and sync as appropriate. So I wrote myself a little rsync script which grabs all the files I think of as taking work to recreate. Which is given as follows: rsync -avl --stats --progress --timeout=300 --exclude-from

Noob problems with Darwine
I've installed darwine 1.1.9 on my mac. I've read all of the tutorials and forums that I could find but I'm still not able to solve my problem. I imagine I must be missing something that's so obvious that it doesn't even make its way into a tutorial. I can't run programs. If I start winehelper and try to run a program (say regedit.exe) I get the errors at the end of

I've installed wine, so i can play an mmorpg game called Astonia 3. So far, the game loads fine, except for 2 problems: 1) no sound 2) no keyboard input from everything i've read under wine docs, there should be a file called config - but i'm sure you know it doesn't exist... no /tools/wineinstall file either. i've installed wine from the rpm for fedora, and i can't find

Noob - port 3000 in URL''s - get rid of it?
Hi, total Noob here. I have a rails server set up and running. I''m working my way through the "agile" book. I see that all of the examples show URL''s that explicitly call for port 3000. How would one go about creating a ruby app that is engaged with a "normal" URL with no port number in it? That is apparently the default port for webrick to start up on

Sound starts but drops out on game.
There is a 2d mmorpg that I play that is a spin off of Endless Online. When running this program with Wine, I have a couple of sound problems. First, it will only play one sound at a time from the game, and two, the sound drops out completely after a few sounds try to play at the same time. I've tried a bunch of different settings with the same results. I ran the game from the command line

No video acceleration under wine?
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 32bits Core: i5 2,4ghz Video card: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB Hello all, I'm trying to play a direct3d MMORPG game called Ragnarok Online (if you search, you'll see it's not a heavy game), but when I connect, I noticed slow perfomance, as if the game was working just by CPU. So I'm wondering if WINE is using video acceleration for it. I'm using

AION (!gameguard! problem) works on linux?is it true?
some people said its true to play games with the sometimes called "rootkit"-gameguard. > Gameguard should work with Linux, try the latest wine version or maybe the free cedega version. If wine can't get it to work cedega should, because it's optimized to work with the latest windows games, you can take a look at the list of supported programms at transgaming.com for cedega

Noob question for wxMenu.get_menu_items()
How do I iterate through the pseudo-template list class containing wxMenuItem pointers. Am still a bit of a Ruby/wxRuby noob. Currently have this: pp mymenu.get_menu_items() which prints: #<SWIG::TYPE_p_wxMenuItemList:0x4634fa8> However when I try to do: mymenu.get_menu_items().each {|key| ...} it tells me there is no each method for this class (SWIG::TYPE_p_wxMenuItemList)

Re : noob question :)
Wine changes dozens of files to run properly. Last week a user couldnt login anymore his Windows XP after doing that. Btw, as you say world of warcraft doesnt use registry and is well known to work on wine too by copying the whole directory. I suggest you to do that. Its just a few megabytes of disk space versus a possibly unusable windows xp. Kind regards, Sylvain Petreolle (aka Usurp)
