GeForce 8400 GS
Hi everyone.
I read on a 2011 article - http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=nouveau_comp_2011&num=19 - that my particular card, GeForce 8400 GS, overheats with nouveau. (So, I never tried using if for long, before, as soon as possible, installing the proprietary drivers...) But, because it's a 2-year-old article, I was wondering if that problem could have been, in the

Lots of IB_EMPTY errors on G98 (GeForce 8400 GS) on SPARC
I'm running on Sun Blade 2500 with a GeForce 8400 GS PCI. After (maybe?)
fixing a few errrors with bo allocation, I'm getting a lot of IB_EMPTY
errors, ultimately resulting in a GPU lockup. I don't have any sort of
framebuffer visible.
After reading dma-pusher.txt, I see "An attempt to submit IB entry with
length zero will raise DMA_PUSHER error of type IB_EMPTY." How would

Should I dump my Nvidia card from the less known brand "Gainward"?
Hi everyone.
I'm a big Free Software enthusiast and, therefore, I would very much like to use the nouveau free driver, instead of the proprietary one.
My problem is that, looking for the cheapest option available, when I needed to buy a new graphics card, 2 years ago, I decided for a model from a brand that I had never heard of - called "Gainward" - because I thought it had a

Nvidia 8400 Gs not detected correctly
I'm running an Nvidia geforce 8400 GS 512 Mb card, but when i go into the oblivion options, under the Graphics adapter tab it shows me Geforce 8300 Gs whcih is a motherboard which I assume has some sort of GPU onboard.
This would explain the subpar framerates im getting.

Nouveau / GeForce 7600 GS / DualHead / AMD64x2
Hi all!
I just wanted to tell you that I checked out the latest
nouveau version and replaced the old 'nv' driver.
Additionally to the installation instruction I added
Option "RandR12" "true"
to the Device section
and
Virtual 2560 1024
to the Display subsection in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
Putting
xrandr --output DVI-D-1 --auto --output DVI-D-0 --auto

[Bug 10572] "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" by default on GeForce 7600 GS
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10572
------- Comment #2 from madman2003 at gmail.com 2007-09-08 06:30 PST -------
Is this still an issue?
NV4x cards should work well with MigrationHeuristic "always" these days.

Nouveau should create a script to download the bleeding-edge version
I've tried to use Nouveau several times, with several operative systems
(Ubuntu, Mint, Trisquel). Seemingly, the versions of Nouveau are too old,
since my screen is detected as being smaller than it is. All in all, I
tried to follow the instructions to build from scratch (in order to have
the really latest version), and failed. Would somebody mind to create a
script to download the sources,

Good call on including the network gear in the power budget. NUT isn't much use to the slave systems if the network connection between master and slave goes down.
