[fdo] where to find fdo logos?
Hi, I have been looking for the freedesktop.org logo in a good resolution or even vector based, but I was not able to find it. If someone could point me to a ps, svg or other vector based version, that would be great. I saw a vector based version of the logo on Keith's screenshots of window-level image compositing, so they must be somewhere around there. If you have the logo in a higher

I shall close https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63808 then. Out of curiosity, is there a better place to report such things to fdo sysadmins than bugzilla, the sitewranglers list, and IRC? Cheers -Tim

[fdo] Retiring the GitHub mirrors
Hello everyone, For many years now, we have maintained mirrors of numerous FDo projects on GitHub, under the following organisations: https://github.com/freedesktop https://github.com/mesa3d https://github.com/wayland-project A bit over a month ago, a new security feature in git started preventing our script from updating these repos, which wasn't noticed right away due to people being on

[fdo] Downtime on annarchy for maintenance 2013-07-27
Hi, Annarchy needs more disk space fairly urgently, so I will take the host down and add some more disk space tomorrow, Saturday. Work will start approximately 17 UTC. I hope it will be fairly brief, less than an hour, but it might take longer if we run into problems Please get in touch on #freedesktop if you have any questions or if this is a problem for you. Regards, -- Tollef Fog Heen

[fdo] libtransset
Hi! I'm fledging transset into a tiny library to allow applications to make themselves (or parts of them) transparent. This will probably be obsolete by GDK 2.8, but I sort of need it now for a Tomboy plugin I'm doing. So here's the thing: It's doesn't work! *gasp* I almost copy-pasted the code from transset CVS, I get no errors, the window ID's are correct, the property

[fdo] Intel G35 / X3500 video tearing
I've recently set up a system built on an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI motherboard running Ubuntu 7.10 and I'm experiencing some very noticeable tearing during video playback with mplayer. I have read some discussion about video tearing with other Intel chipsets in the mailing list a while back but hadn't heard much about it lately. I've experimented with both xv and gl video output as well

[fdo] [ADMIN] Mail move, some weirdness
Hi all, Pascal Hakim and I have just moved our mail system to Postfix, from Exim 4. This was largely to ease our admin load, so we could help in despamming. We've already implemented support for XBL and SBL, as well as grey-listing. Unfortunately, there was a window of about 2 hours where mail was being accepted, but the LDAP recipient map was not active. As a result, some mail spooled in

[fdo] Wiki
I see you all have switched the freedesktop wiki to moinmoin. Good choice, but it seems some things were lost in the conversion. For example, the links to the systemtray spec are broken/missing on this page: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards_2fsystemtray_2dspec Not sure this is the right place to post this... Please cc me in any replies as I am not subscribed to the list. --

[fdo] Just an idea on addressing cross platform HIGs
I just read this article (http://www.wpdfd.com/editorial/wpd0504review.htm) ad noticed some points about "Mac users VS The Gimp interface" and some "not conformant to the Mac HIG specification" things. Considering this interview (http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2004/04/28/interview_with_miguel_de_icaza_cofounder_of_gnome_ximian_and_mono.html) and this article

[fdo] knotify and gnotify
I was wondering whether freedesktop would look into implementing a standard api for notification, or at least a standard api. To me this is a great feature, and I miss it on linux system wide. i'm just afraid that if it's left to the desktops then we'll have kde notifications and gnome notifications and conflicts all around. but just the idea of hooking an rss reader up to this seems
