iso creation with dd
I placed a CD in a drive. I ran sudo dd sudo dd if=/dev/cdrom of=HMI_B_Image_File_4-23-09_disk_1.iso It completed. I then transferred the ISO file to an XP machine, use Sonic to burn the ISO file to another CD, and there was a file missing (the largest) in the burned CD. Seems like the data got transferred through the dd, but not a file name. What might I be doing wrong? === Al

Bootable CD for booting of USB HDD
Hi, I bought a USB hard drive, got Mandriva installed on it, and made it bootable with extlinux. Works great on machines that can boot from USB. I also created a boot cd using the instructions in the wiki. This is working too. The only problem with the boot cd is that I had to copy the kernel, initrd, etc. to the cd. This means that whenever I install a new kernel I'll have to create and

Bootable CD Images
Hello there, I have a question/suggestion. I have a bootable CDRom and it comes up with an isolinux menu that lets me pick from several different floppy images to boot Dos and several different Linux Rescue Disks using memdisk. So far so good. What I would like to be able to do is boot a bootable image that is not a floppy image. For example, DemoLinux is a 650MB iso file and when burned to

Is it possible to boot a CD-Image of a bootable CD (no disk emu) via pxe
Hello Peter, is it possible to boot a CD-Image of a bootable CD (no disk emu) via pxe. I've build up the infrastructure to boot normal floppy images via PXE (under W2K and/or Netware). I have a ISO image of the bootable CD (1 tack TAO eltorinto with an a single boot sect -> bootimage is 2kB, ISO image about 600 MB) I suspect that a combination of MEMDISK and PXELINUX with activated UNDI

non-bootable dvd image
Hi all; I downloaded the centos 4.3 image onto my linux box and used k3b to burn a DVD iso image. It seemed to work fine. Wanted: Cd-bootable Fedora+Asterisk
I'm in search someone who would be interested in developing a Fedora-baed Asterisk system that is bootable from a CD or possible flash. I am aware of the various commercial and free solutions out there, but none I have found suit our needs...mainly because they are not easily extensible and/or upgradeable. If you are interested in working on such a project, please contact me off-list.

To the best of my knowledge, disk-based Syslinux expects INTerrupt 0x13 to be available. I don't understand why your strategy would

Booting a bootable CD-ROM
To elaborate a little further.... The code that currently does the following is executed as part of a replacement for the BIOS interrupt 19h bootstrap process. 1) Issue an ATAPI command to read sector 11h 2) Use the value at offset 47h to read the validation entry and initial section entry 3) Use the loadrba value from the initial section entry to read the first sector of

Booting a bootable CD-ROM
Hello, I am working on a legacy BIOS extension that is used to provide a centralised and managed boot process for a secure environment. Due to an assortment of reasons the access to hard disk / CD-ROM devices has had to be implemented at a low level (reading/writing IDE controller registers) rather than relying on the int 13h services provided by the system BIOS. Booting hard disks is working

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had some success, in fact most of this usually works. I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but

[Slightly OT] Use CentOS to create a bootable Mac OS X DVD from dmg file?
Hi, Sorry if this is only half-CentOS-related. In my office, I'm running CentOS on all my systems (server, workstation, laptop, sandbox PCs). A colleague brought me her MacBook Pro to upgrade it from OS X 10.5.7 to 10.11.6. I downloaded the 5.8 GB dmg file and now I wonder how to create a bootable DVD with this using only Linux tools. 1. Can I simply burn this as a data DVD with K3B? 2.

Adding support for .w64 (wave64) format
I use Sony (previously Sonic Foundry) Sound Forge, which allows me to save audio files in .w64 (Wave 64) format to get around the 2GB .wav file limitation. W64 was invented by Sonic Foundry, and is an open format as far as I know. The only programs I know about using the .w64 format at the moment are Sound Forge and Steinberg Nuendo, although there may be others out there. With increasing

Problems booting with SCSI CD
