SSH question
On my logwatch that I have emailed to me, I see a line where I'm showed logging in via a known ip address, and when I log in from my laptop through my EV-DO card wirelessly, the computer show log in as ok, but it can not translate the ip from the aircard and marks the log in as a possible hack attempt. How do you go in and set a network subnet as a valid ip block and not an attack attempt?

[PATCH] Use augeas to update securetty
augeas now supports securetty. This resolves a failure when securetty isn't present in the guest. augeas and /etc/securetty
Hi, I need to add one line to /etc/securetty, say it needs to be ttyS1. Do not add it if ttyS1 already exists in file /etc/securetty. How to achieve this using puppet module in puppet 2.5? This file is different than the other examples using augeas, this one only has value per line, not name-val pair. vnc for non-root
At work I've been asked to set up vnc for a remote user (a vendor sysadmin to install 3d party software we've purchased). Of course I'm a bit skittish about allowing root access to this. Is there a way to configure vnc so that root cannot log in through it...? Or do I have to use some other utility to deny root access (e.g., securetty). Thanks, folks. -- War is a failure of the

Firebug 1.2.0b4 for FF3
The current beta version of Firebug doesn't appear to install on Firefox 3 on CentOS 5.2, apparently because it's reporting itself as 3.0b5 rather 3.0. I tweaked the minVersion requirement in the xpi to 3.0b5 and it seems to be working fine for me now. In case anyone else is interested in testing it, my tweaked version is available here:

[patch 0/6] Various cleanups
Hi Andi, Here's a little batch of cleanups: - re-enable VDSO when PARAVIRT is enabled - make the parainstructions symbols match the other altinstructions naming convention - add kernel command-line options to disable altinstructions for smp and pv_ops Oh, and I'm mailing your noreplacement patch back at you, for no particularly good reason. libguestfs error: need help troubleshooting
Hi, I'm trying to manually create a rhel7 image using the qemu-img and virt-install commands. I'm re-testing a procedure I previously wrote with the new grub commands that a customer suggested we add in. This procedure is available at: http://file.bne.redhat.com/dnavale/docs/review/RH-guides/AG-020715/#sect-create-images As in the procedure, I'm able to run all steps successfully

6.2p2 question
Built RPM's from the 6.2p2 openssh.spec file on a Red Hat 6.4 x86_64 server. Build a new Red Hat 6.4 x86_64 server, then when I go to install the RPM's on the server it overwrites the functioning /etc/ssh/sshd_config and /etc/pam.d/sshd files with a non-functional versions. Normally when I compile on the systems Openssh does not over write these files. Any ideas? Thanks David

OpenOffice 2.0 rpms
Was just wondering if anyone knows of any third-party RPMs for Open Office 2.0 for CentOS 4? Haven't come up with anything via yum or rpm.pbone.net yet, and would prefer not to go the openoffice.org binary installer route if possible.
