Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all.. I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with

Noob question regarding PCI 2.x & TDM400P Card
I have some old PC's I want to build as a test box - It's up and running OK now. Now I installed a TDM400P and there is nothing I can do to get the card to come up. My guess is the box is not PCI 2.2 compliant or does it need to be to see the card? Thanks, Bart Here's what I know: Processors 1 Model Pentium III (Katmai) CPU Speed 551.37 MHz Cache Size 512 KB System Bogomips

System freezes with i8042_panic_blink on suspend
Hello, I am using CentOS 4.6 (2.6.9-67.plus.c4) on a toshiba tecra 8000 notebook. If closing the panel, "Panel Power On/Off" is enabled in bios, the notebook does suspend. But after opening the panel, the notebook completely freezes. If the suspend only takes a few minutes, then everything is working fine. But if the suspend takes a time more than five or ten minutes, the system

isolinux 2.01 bug with Compaq and Promise BIOS
I have a Compaq something with a PII-400 and an Intel 440BX/ZX/DX chipset. I put in a Maxtor Ultra133 PCI controller (which is a Promise PDC20269, same as their TX2) and connected the hard drive thereto. Before we go on, I should say that I **hate** both Promise and Compaq. I wouldn't actually BUY this junk. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say. :) (An old idiom I grew up

em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
I am getting these messages every 30 seconds or so. I searched around and found a few other post about this problem with other devices, but no answers to the problem. I didn't notice any of these message until I upgrade to 4.8-RELEASE the other day. This is a dual processor machine. It happens on all my machines that have em devices, which all happen to be dual processor machines. I

SCSI backup error
Hi, Can someone please help me with this? I have just upgraded from 4.7 to 4.8-STABLE and this is what I am getting when I try a tape backup. Please CC as I am not in the list. It was working well before the upgrade (dump -0ua -f - / | gzip -c -9 | dd of=/dev/nsa0). Thank you, Lefteris Tsintjelis Jul 3 22:55:18 ene /kernel:

SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout on FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE
Hi I have a newly installed FreeBSD 6.0 release machine on which I am getting the following error on the console: "ad4: req=0xc23bc258 SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout !! DANGER Will Robinson !!" This is generally associated with heightened disk activity, but it happens inevitably after a while (minutes or hours) if the machine is running. The atacontrol list shows:

Health check
Hi I have a quad processor Compaq Proliant 5500. The output from dmesg seems strange (I have also sent a copy to freebsd-smp to ask about smp issues) and there are also some performance issues which I suspect are smp related. Could anyone who fels so inclined please take a look at the output and let me have any comments. Thanks _______________________________ Copyright (c) 1992-2002 The

Partial deadlock in 4.9p1
I've just had a 4.9p1 system partially deadlock for about 30 minutes and then spontaneously(?) recover. The "ps" results point at vinum. I've never seen this before and don't recall anything like this being mentioned here before. At the time, I had two find's running in a large NFS mounted filesystem and was doing a "cvs -d /usr/ncvs -R checkout -P ports" from
