Everything was working fine, then after an update, it no longer works. I am using Fedora 7. I am unsure of the Wine version. Any of the Wine apps cause the screen to blank when I start them. I can press alt+f4 to close and get my Fedora desktop back. How do I get my Wine apps to work again? --Tony

Try with CTRL-ALT-F2 (go to the console) and CTRL-ALT-F1 (go back to the X-Window). Motherboard time. Netbook is probably a throw away issue. Cost more t to repair than buy new. I run a couple Windows apps (Quicken 2007, Solitaire Plus) under wine. I've noted a screen refresh problem with both apps on various releases of Linux Mint (or Ubuntu) and wine. Can anyone suggest how I can eliminate the following problem. What happens: When I use the open-source graphics card driver, the apps work fine. But when I use the proprietary Nvidia drivers.... (1) Solitaire Plus

Wine changes dozens of files to run properly. Last week a user couldnt login anymore his Windows XP after doing that. Btw, as you say world of warcraft doesnt use registry and is well known to work on wine too by copying the whole directory. I suggest you to do that.
