grDevices::convertColor and colorRamp(space='Lab') Performance Improvements
`grDevices::convertColor` performance can be improved by 30-300x with small changes to the code. `colorRamp(space='Lab')` uses `convertColor` so it too benefits from substantial performance gains. `convertColor` vectorizes explicitly over the rows of the input color matrix using `apply`. The level-1 patch [1] illustrates a possible minimal set of changes to achieve this with just R

Recovering SPlus GraphSheets
Hello, Is it possible with R to recover the contents of SPlus GraphSheets (*.sgr) without access to SPlus? Also, some of the .sgr files may have multiple pages. Building static HTML help pages in R 2.10.x on Windows
I upgraded to R2.10.1pat and discovered, along with everybody else, that static HTML pages are no longer the default. Fine; my tastes would go the other way, but I'm happy to adapt. However, I'd still like to build static HTML pages (for stable bookmarking, use when R is not running, etc.). I'm using the Windows installer, so the advice in the R Installation & Admin guide

[R-pkgs] New Package vetr: Enforce Structural Requirements for S3 Objects
`vetr` implements a declarative template-based approach to verify that objects meet structural requirements, and auto-composes error messages when they do not. This package is intended to simplify a more formal use of S3 objects. The template concept is borrowed from `vapply`: >> vet(numeric(1L), 1:3) >? [1] "`1:3` should be length 1 (is 3)" >> vet(numeric(1L),

match.call enhancements in 3.2.2
I was thrilled to see this in the change log: > match.call() gains an envir argument for specifying the environment from which to retrieve the ... in the call, if any; this environment was wrong (or at least undesirable) when the definition argument was a function. This was an issue I ran into a few years ago.? I ended up writing my own version that allows specification of the environment, but

How do I prevent macOS from attempting to build my package?
[ Initially posted in r-package-devel, now reposting here by request from Uwe; my apologies for the cross-post. ] Package status reports come in three different severities: NOTE, WARNING, and ERROR. Motivated by Brodie's nice (dependency-free) accessor function for per-maintainer status [1], I have looked into reducing the number of ERRORs. I hit a road block. Several of my packages

R Package: 'ggbreak' in Dockerfile
Hi James, I just tried fixing my script and added library(BiocManager) before library(ggbreak), then rebuilt the image, and am still getting the same error. Error in library(ggbreak) : there is no package called 'ggbreak' Execution halted I will say that when I ran docker exec docker_container_id R -e "installed.packages()" I get the following: Package

A somewhat off the line question to a log normal distribution
Sigfried, I am not a statistician, but I have learned that according to the Central Limit Theorem (CLT) sums of random variables, regardless of their form, will tend to be normally distributed. CLT does not require the variables in the sum to come from the same underlying distribution. Ciao, Hannu Kahra Progetti Speciali Monte Paschi Asset Management SGR S.p.A. Via San Vittore, 37 IT-20123

error in arfima...
Dear Martin, Sad that the bug is beyond your ken... Fortunately, the error happens only rarely...The length of LYGH was 719 and there were only two such errors..I will just replace them with NA and make do. By the by, what if I send LYGH as an attachment to your actual mail ( not the r-help mail)? Will it help? Can you then pinpoint the cause? Or should I raise a bug

syslinux ansi <-> vesa color mapping
I have noticed anything using ANSI escape sequences to color text does not work if syslinux is in VESA mode. It only works if the \1#, \2#, or \3# are used. This means that libmenu which relies on csprint fails to render colors in VESA mode. I noticed the default color table has a complete table generated at runtime for all VGA color combinations, which csprint also does but from VGA attributes on
