Logging a special message into Dovecot source code
Hi, I wanna modify Dovecot source code.For that,I need to know how can we log a special message into Dovecot source code? I tried to write a function to write a message in a file and added it to Dovecot source code,but it didn't work. I'm wondering if we can use Dovecote logging functions,but I don't know what are those functions and how can we use them. Thanks in advance. --

APPLY as alternate to FOR loop?
Dear list, Below I've written a clunky for loop that counts NA's in a row, replacing all with NA if there are more than 3 missing values, or keeping the values if 4 or more are present. This is sample code from a very large dataframe I'm trying to clean up. I know there are many simpler more elegant solutions to this little problem. Would someone be willing to show me how to

column wise paste of data.frames
Hi everybody! I'm sure that I overlook something and feel quite stupid to ask, but I have not found an easy solution to the following problem: Take e.g. the Orthodont data from the nlme package: > head(Orthodont) Grouped Data: distance ~ age | Subject distance age Subject Sex 1 26.0 8 M01 Male 2 25.0 10 M01 Male 3 29.0 12 M01 Male 4 31.0 14 M01 Male

[truncated] and I'm trying to fit a simple Von Bertalanffy growth curve with program: #Creates a Von Bertalanffy growth model VonB=nls(TL~Linf*(1-exp(-k*(age-t0))), data=box5.4, start=list(Linf=1000, k=0.1, t0=0.1), trace=TRUE) #Scatterplot of the data plot(TL~age, data=box5.4,

using nls for gamma distribution (a,b,d)
Dear all i want to estimated the parameter of the gamma density(a,b,d) f(x) = (1/gamma(b)*(a^b)) * ((x-d)^(b-1)) * exp{-(x-d)/a)} for x>d f(x) = Age specific fertility rate x = age when i run this in R by usling nls() gamma.asfr <- formula(asfr ~ (((age-d)^(b-1))/((gamma(b))*(a^b)))* exp(-((age-d)/a))) gamma.asfr1 <- nls(gamma.asfr, data= asfr.aus, start = list(b = 28, a = 1, d= 0.5),

Data manipulation problem
Dear R?ers. I?ve got a dataset with age and year of diagnosis. In order to age-standardize the incidence I need to transform the data into a matrix with age-groups (divided in 5 or 10 years) along one axis and year divided into 5 years along the other axis. Each cell should contain the number of cases for that age group and for that period. I.e. My data format now is ID-age (to one

lme funcion in R
Hi, R users, I'm using the "lme" function in R to estimate a 2 level mixed effects model, in which the size of the subject groups are different. It turned out that It takes forever for R to converge. I also tried the same thing in SPSS and SPSS can give the results out within 20 minutes. Anyone can give me some advice on the lme function in R, especially why R does not converge?

Floating point precision causing undesireable behaviour when printing as.POSIXlt times with microseconds?
Dear list, When using as.POSIXlt with times measured down to microseconds the default format.POSIXlt seems to cause some possibly undesirable behaviour: According to the code in format.POSIXlt the maximum accuracy of printing fractional seconds is 1 microsecond, but if I do; options( digits.secs = 6 ) as.POSIXlt( 1.000002 , tz="", origin="1970-01-01") as.POSIXlt( 1.999998 ,

lme, best model without convergence
Dear R-help list readers, I am fitting mixed models with the lme function of the nlme package. If I get convergence depends on how the method (ML/REM) and which (and how much) parameters will depend randomly on the cluster-variable. How get the bist fit without convergence? I set the parameters msVerbose and returnObject to TRUE: lmeControl(maxIter=50000, msMaxIter=200, tolerance=1e-4,

Variable c and function c
