can't get rcmd to work on windows2k....
I'm trying to make sure my R package will install properly (build help files, etc) and when I try to run the rcmd check (or any rcmd option) I get the following error. Does dcf.pm stand for perl module? If not, why do I get this message? C:\systemfit\r_code>rcmd check --help Can't locate R/Dcf.pm in @INC (@INC contains: c \PROGRA~1\r\rw1041\share\perl; /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/cygwin-multi

need a solution to an R-problem: consultant available?
I am trying to get confidence bands for a non-linear power function (y=mx^b). I thought I should be able to figure it out, but can't. Are there any R consultant? I would be willing to pay some amount of money, but not sure such consultants exist. I fit power functions to lots of data, and this would be very useful. I would ideally like to have confidence bands for the mean function and a

foo.RData or foo.r?
Dear All, I suspect this is kind of dumb, but when I was under the thrall of the dark lord (read, using a W2K box), all my work in R files came out as foo.RData. I moved on to GNU/Linux, and all the old .RData files keep on working as they used. No problems in loading and stuff. But I use R from the terminal. Assuming I decide to switch to emacs, do I need to save my work as foo.r? what about my

Asterisk on Solaris
Hello Everyone, I have bumped into the thralling penguin page on linux vs solaris for asterisk. Does the benchmark still hold with the newer versions of kernels? Curious to know of your thoughts. Also, they mentioned running it on Sun Fire x2100, but no benchmarks were given for that. Can increased performance be accomplished simply by changing to Solaris or OpenSolaris? Kind Regards, Nick.

Dealing with R list objects in C/C++
Hi, I'd like to construct an R list object in C++, fill it with relevant data, and pass it to an R function which will return a different list object back. I have browsed through all the R manuals, and examples under tests/Embedding, but can't figure out the correct way. Below is my code snippet: #include <Rinternals.h> // Rf_initEmbeddedR and other setups already performed

SAM program and R mirror - which port to open?
To whom this may concern, I am having issues installing a program called "SAM" (Statistical Analysis of Microarrays) which is an excel add in and requires the use of R. Due to the firewall at my hospital, R cannot connect to a mirror and therefore cannot install necessary files for the complete installation of SAM. The IT department has asked me which "port" needs to be opened

RE: Rails Digest, Vol 20, Issue 39
All assumptions aside, "rectest" and "salt" are usernames not databases/schemas according to the pasted config. If they were in fact different databases/schemas, this problem could never have happened. While different database brands may have tricks for ways to handle users and what they perceive as a database/schema, the fact remains that if 2 literally separate databases

SE estimates for treatment groups from nlme
I am wondering how to obtain SE estimates for fixed effects from a nonlinear mixed effects model? I have fixed effects corresponding to three factors A, B and C with 2, 3 and 3 levels respectively. I have fit a model of the following general form: nlme1<-nlme(y~ SasympOrig(x, Asym, lrc), data=df, fixed=list(Asym~A*B*C, lrc~A*B*C), start=c(fixef(ETR.nlme)[1], rep(0,17), fixef(ETR.nlme)[2],

Steam crashes after login - any troubleshooting t
The Steam client crashes after I login. After submitting my credentials, Steam displays a dialog box informing me the client is 'connecting'. I then see the Steam main page and a blank news page displayed for roughly a second or so before the client crashes. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 maverick which I've installed on a usb flash drive using a capser-rw file for persistence.

New package: weightr (v. 1.0.0)
Greetings, R users! I'm excited and pleased to announce that the weightr package was released to CRAN today: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/weightr/ Our package provides a function for meta-analysts to implement the Vevea and Hedges (1995) weight-function model for publication bias in R and, by specifying an additional argument, to implement the modified Vevea and Woods (2005)

[LLVM/Clang v3.8.1] Missing Git branches/tags and source-tarballs?
Sedat, What you're probably missing is that 3.8.1 is made in release_38 branch. So, everything is there and already mirrored. Source tarballs will be available upon the release.
