SDMTools package - calculating overlap?
Dear R users, Any idea of how to calculate an area of an overlap between two functions? The only R build in function that I found is I Similarity Statistic for Quantifying Niche Overlap and I am really not sure if this function is producing exactly what I am interested in since I was plotting functions and often got confused results (for example: got high value for the overlap of one pair and low

Help with Dell Latitude, CentOS 5, and intel 3945abg wireless
I've visited several web pages, including Dell's, for help in getting the wireless card activated. lspci shows it, but iwconfig doesn't list it. I also visited linux.dell.com and downloaded and installed the 64-bit Fedora 7 RPMs, but couldn't get anywhere. dellwirelessctl also doesn't show up anywhere. I'm running a fully updated kernel/distro. What am I missing?

Dell Latitude E5410 doesn't boot my USB thumbnail
Hi there, I have a 512MB USB thumbnail which I used syslinux to create a bootable USB disk. It works fine with my old laptop and a few other computers. However, on my Dell Latitude E5410, it doesn't really work; when the Dell laptop boots, I pressed F9 to see the boot devices list and the thumbnail is not on the list. Some hints please? x -- [?] Please notice that v9 at dr.com is no

latitude longitude data
Dear R-helpers, I get GPS readings with bug counts (bugs meaning insects in this case) made along rows in crop fields and use these to make maps of bug distribution. The GPS readings are not quite accurate enough for my purpose, so since I know what row each reading is made in, I adjust the latitudinal coordinate using: grd<-lm(lat~lon+Row,data)

make a grid with longitude, latitude and bathymetry data
hi, i have a longitude vector (x) a latitude vector (y) and a matrix of bathymetry (z) with the dimensions (x,y). I have already succeeded in plotting it with the image.plot (package 'field') and the contour functions. But now, I want to make a grid in order to extract easily the bathymetry corresponding to a couple of longitude, latitude coordinates. Do you know a function or a

Precision on Latitude/Longitude
Hi All, I''m having a problem with Rails truncating latitude and longitude values. In my database (mySQL) table, my lat/lng columns are defined as Decimal(25,20), but I get different precision values depending on what I do. If I post, via XML, a value of 37.436490000000006 to my controller, what gets inserted into the db table is 37.43648999999999900000. Then, when I fetch the record in a

Dell Latitude E6410 and BIOS drive ordering
I'm posting as an FYI. I was testing BIOS A04 with a UFD (USB Flash Drive) but it probably applies to everything that looks like a USB hard drive. My previous statement was partially incorrect as I did find a scenario to the contrary. I tried with FDD then CD at the top of the list and tried with both just disabled (without reordering first). I tried with the SATA controller in ATA, AHCI

Problem with buggy Dell Latitude BIOS
Hello List, the most recent BIOS (A13) for the Dell Latitude E6520 has problems - gpxelinux (4.05) cannot load larger initrd (or memdisk images) with this BIOS and fails with "Not enough memory to load specified image". This results in a few of our boot images (most importantly the Backup Rescue image (and parted magix pxe version)) failing. A12 BIOS works okay. So at the moment we

CentOS on HP EliteBook 6930 or Dell Latitude e6400
Hello, I'm considering the HP EliteBook 6930 or the Dell Latitude e6400 notebooks for CentOS. I'm planning on using these in a situation in which they are always on, and I want low power and low noise and high reliability. HP claims up to 24 hours battery power and Dell up to 19 hours. I figure this can bridge the gap for most power outages in my neighborhood. I realize that I

CentOS 7 + Dell Latitude E6420 laptop = thermalshutdown
We also saw some problems with recent Dell machines with ?SpeedStep? or whatever Intel calls their power/speed management these days. One developer measured a very significant increase in speed after completely disabling support for it in his kernel on multiple Linux variants. I don?t have the details from him, but he said the system went from ?almost unusable on a daily basis?, to, ?I can
