Facebooker-talk Digest, Vol 5, Issue 12
Hi all,
I wanted to test requests from internal facebook apps, so I''ve been
mimicking FBML requests from facebook in my tests using the following:
def test_can_facebook_internal_app_login
fb_login_as :facebooker
num_of_members = Member.count
facebook_request :get, :home
assert_response :success
assert_equal num_of_members, Member.count

Anyone having problems with asset_host not getting set up right?
Hey All,
I think I found a bug but I would be suprised since it would cause major
problems.
We setup the asset_host in init.rb with:
if File.exist?(facebook_config)
FACEBOOKER = YAML.load_file(facebook_config)[RAILS_ENV]
ENV[''FACEBOOK_API_KEY''] = FACEBOOKER[''api_key'']
ENV[''FACEBOOK_SECRET_KEY''] =

Order of authentication methods is causing unnecessary call to API?
Hey Guys,
I am wondering if I am missing something here. I am noticing that after a
user installs my app I get a request that not only contains an auth_key but
also contains a valid session key.
Occasionally I am seeing that Facebook server is occasionally sending a
connection reset during the auth key authentication method, this caused me
to notice that secure_with_token is given precedence in

Facebooker::Session::IncorrectSignature
I think I must be missing something obvious on this one, but I can''t get past the initial "ensure_application_is_installed_by_facebook_user" in a rails app that I''m trying to put together. I''m running on edge rails with the latest Facebooker as a plugin. I''ve tried adding my settings to the environment configs and recently I tried the new yaml

cache_sweeper
Hi,
Why is cache_sweeper not a documented method? I was pretty sure it
used to be, but I could be wrong. I can''t seem to find any
information on it anymore in the online docs.
As a side note, looking at the code for cache_sweeper it appears to
only work with the :only option, not :except (ignores it)... what''s
the reason for this?
Thanks,
Andrew

RMagick progress monitor with backgroundrb - possible?
I''m looking for a way to give the user a progress monitor on large
image manipulations with RMagick. I first looked at this method -
http://www.imagemagick.org/RMagick/doc/imageattrs.html#monitor - to do
it in a controller action, but since I can''t call multiple renders in
an action, I would need to store the progress in the database and call
another action from javascript to

Double Frame Problem
The only solution I''ve seen to the problem of the nested frame on the
login/install pages (when using iframes rather than fbml), is to use JS to cause

New worker not being created
I figured out that in the backgroundrb.yml, I had the old setting of making
the database RAILS_ENV. It wasn''t a valid variable in backgroundrb 0.2.1,
and it wasn''t reporting an error, so I had no idea. Once I changed it to
''development'' or ''production'', it started working.
I found that if a worker has an error, it usually logs the error

Facebooker::Session::SessionExpired (Session key invalid or no longer valid)
Hi All,
I''m having horrible problems with this exception, which seems to happen as
soon as I access the session object. Does anyone know what the path is to
recover from this? This post looked to be the most promising:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/facebooker-talk/2007-December/000047.html
And I followed all of the steps except switching my session store, and
modifying the default

Facebooker support for iframe apps
Hi facebooker-ers,
It looks to me like facebooker does not currently support iframe
facebook apps - or am I missing something?
My first problem as I understand it is as follows - When you are
logged into facebook, and access a facebook application,
facebook tacks on a whole lot of extra fb_sig parameters to the
request (including fb_sig_user) that the application can then
validate to

request for change in URL pointing to facebook domain
I am requesting that we change the paths that absolutely point to the
facebook URL.
In the PHP client there is a method in the facebook.php file called
get_facebook_url() so this is easy to change there.
One reason for this:
Ringside Networks is a drop in replacement for Facebook that can be
used for localhost development and eventually an abstraction for most
social networks - it mimics the

Facebooker interfering with existing application
Hi!
I have an existing application, basically a very simple Hobo app. It
works...
When I install the Facebooker plugin and create the facebooker.yml file
(with valid or fake content, doesn''t matter), the original app starts
behaving strangely.
The controller and view logic keeps working, but several static files stop
being served from http://localhost:3000/javascripts and start being

loading settings from database
I''m just wondering what the best way to go about loading my API keys
from the database is ...
Should I simply place them in the ENV variable?
Is there a way better way to go about this?

package conflict resolution method:
Hello, list:
I have two puppet modules that are unrelated to each other, but
both have (unrelated) Python scripts that parse YAML. As such, both
have a block like the following in their manifests for the PyYAML script
dependency:
package { ''PyYAML'':

If I try and include both modules on the same server this

Using forms in Facebook(er)
Hi,
I just ran across an interesting occurrence and maybe this is well know but
I thought I''d ask about it.
I have a form in my canvaspage . I had set the method to "GET" and I kept
getting an IncorrectSignature exception in the facebooker plugin. When I
change the method type to "POST" lo and behold things work. No exception.
I don''t understand

getting started
Hey all,
Been reading through all the old posts (and the docs) to familiarize
myself but I still feel a bit lost.
I''m on trunk and am having a bit of a hard time knowing where to start
with the particular I''m trying to solve.
So far, I''ve downloaded backgroundrb, done the basic rails setup,
created my worker and started it using `script/backgroundrb start`.
