how to get the source for installed RPM (CUPS)
I would like to change a few things in CUPS, but I would prefer to use the source for the version of CUPS that I already have installed using yum. Mostly because I'm quite happy with the way it works except a few details. Is there a way to get the source using yum or should I go to http://www.cups.org/software.php and get it from there ? The version I installed with yum is 1.1.22 and on

Fedora SRPM and cups-devel
Why doesn't samba.org's source RPM for Fedora list cups-devel as a BuildRequires? Red Hat's/Fedora's version of the source RPM does require it. Not requiring it and leaving --enable-cups as auto means that the resulting RPM's features depend on which machine it's built on; that seems incorrect to me. I've noticed that some RPMs control which features are built

streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hi, Currently streaming ogg isn't practical in this situation. That was one of the first things i checked into. WHen i looked i didn't see a streamer that did both ogg and mp3. Thanks. enable-cups in spec file
It appears that --enable-cups made it into the Redhat srpm. Neat. I've been adding that one line to it forever, and did it again this time without checking for its presence, thus causing the compile to fail. Thought I'd let the world know in case someone else did something equally foolish and got confused with config.sub errored out. -- David Schlenk Operating Systems Analyst Bethel

CentOS /boot kernel files removed after rpm upgrades
Hello, I ran a yum update on a centos 5 machine. I then removed some old kernel files, 2.6.x.14 and 2.6.x.10 older kernels. The issue is i got the error "Grub can not create template". I checked /boot and it is now empty. If i reboot this box it certainly will have an issue. I'm running the latest kernel 2.6.x.15 i believe it is. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

ant RPM for CentOS 4
Attempting to build OpenOffice 2 on CentOS 4 from rawhide (future FC5) SRPM. The spec file has EL4 target (which is nice), and I got almost all dependencies in place (mostly from 4.2beta and some from rawhide). However, I'm missing the ant package. Ant from rawhide doesn't compile since it is already gcc 4 based (fails on dependencies, getting it to use gcc4 instead of gcc seems like

Samba + Cups + Filter Access
Hi, I'm trying to use Cups + Samba to make a print server for many purpouses. The main one is to account how many pages where printed by whom and centralize all printers in one server. If I configure samba and cups in the RAW mode using windows original drivers of the printers, everything works fine, but this way I can't use cups accounting. So I reinstaled all my printers

possible corrupt rpm database
Hello, I've got a centos5 box that at least has a dependency issue or a corrupt rpm database. I am open to suggestions as to how to proceed. I have added some extra repositories to my yum configuration, centosplus, rpmforge, atrpms, and the kbs repos. I haven't been having issues with installs or upgrades until today when i ran a yum update, and got a missing dependency error for

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
For archiving from source media (CD usually) to flac? I typically use EAC either from Windows or Wine as it allows for the most configuration. Off the top of my head I think Sound Juicer will do it for *nix, though there are probably others that work just as well. Chris Dave wrote: > Hi, > Thanks. CUPS rpm version on centos4
Hey! I have two Centos4.2 servers using the same yum configuration (identical files, edited on one and copied to the other), which both report no updates [besides squid which is afaict still currently borked] via "yum check-update". At the same time package versions don't match (cups is in the base/updates pair of repositories): [1]# rpm -q cups cups-libs cups-1.1.22-0.rc1.9.8

Solaris 2.8 Samba 2.2.[2|4]/CUPS 1.1.14 compilation problem
Hi, I've been trying to get Samba so tie with our departmental CUPS ssetup. I tried setting: load printers = yes printing = cups printcap name = cups etc in the smb.conf, but after a while discovered in log.smbd that: [2002/05/14 17:24:22, 0] printing/pcap.c:pcap_printer_fn(373) Unable to open printcap file cups for read! unattended install via nfs
Hello, Does anyone have a guide for setting up an nfs server for unattended deployment of centos5? Basically what i want to do is boot a system from CD media, pass a boot parameter nfs, and ks= options then walk away, the box goes out to the nfs server, finds the kickstart file, reads, and does it. I've got several machines and i'd rather not do manual installs. Thanks. Dave.

icecast 1.3.11 rpm
I went looking for redhat icecast rpm's and didn't find any for the most recent version. The PLD ones, while usually being a good replacement, didn't work as they dpeend on their version of the init scripts. So I fixed up some of the spec files I found and the resulting i386 and SRPM can be downloaded from http://urgent.rug.ac.be/thomas/icecast Verified to work on red hat 7.2 and

samba3, nfs mounted directory, and dfs
Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask this one. I've got a FreeBSD 6.2 machine acting as an nfs server. It's exporting a home directory to several machines. On the server that home directory has a symlink in it to another directory on the filesystem. As long as users are on the server they can view the directory symlinked to, but if viewing through samba, they're
