solaris 8/samba3.0alpha15: ld.so.1: ls: fatal: reloca tion error: file /lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol socket: referenced symbol not found
I had the same problem. You need to go into your Makefile and add the [LIBS] definition to the part where winbind.so is linked. Just take it on to the end of the line and run "make" and "make install" again. You might want to do a "make uninstall" and a "make clean" first. -Dan -----Original Message----- From: Jelmer Vernooij [mailto:jelmer@nl.linux.org]

We have just uploaded the second technology preview of Samba 4. Samba 4 is the ambitious next version of the Samba suite that is being developed in parallel to the stable 3.0 series. The main emphasis in this branch is support for the Active Directory logon protocols used by Windows 2000 and above. Samba 4 Packaging Issues
Jelmer- Unfortunately not, I am still unable to get the 4.0.3 package to build successfully due to the aforementioned error. I have yet to try a different version as I think this to be a problem with my packaging attempts, not with anything within that version of samba. As I'm new to this, I've been poking around for even just beginner tutorials on the whole 'debianization' of

Mailing list etiquette? [mildly off-topic]
Since i've gotten so much help from this list with my samba issues, i've been trying to be active and help others, but heres my question. If I reply to someone, should I send it JUST to the mailing list, JUST to the person i'm helping, or both? I've been keeping it on the mailing list, but some people may want the help to come into their main mailbox. Should I send to both?

pdb_mysql, pdb_pgsql and pdb_xml modules: request for maintainer
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! The experimental pdb modules (pdb_mysql, pdb_pgsql and pdb_xml) have been a bit neglected during the last few releases of Samba 3 as they haven't been actively maintained. I was the original author and maintainer, but I no longer work on Samba 3 and I no longer use any of the modules in production. I'll remove these modules unless

Samba4 Auto-start
Hello all, I'll cut to the chase -- several weeks ago, I thought I had an upstart configuration file that would start Samba4 when the VM was turned on; but it turns out I was wrong. At the time there was nothing on the wiki about it (the links were broken). The script I thought was working was simply: start on runlevel [2345] exec /usr/local/samba/sbin/samba In any case, looking at the
