Primary Group SID incorrect - ahhhh
Hi, I'm running 3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1 .. migrating from 3.0.21a with an LDAP back-end. I've use slapadd to import the LDIF file I've exported from my original samba server, but it seems like samba isn't grabbing the Primary Group SID from the ldif file. For Example: dn: uid=chris,ou=Users,dc=orgon,dc=com sambaSID: S-1-5-21-3318375643-2463009161-752822123-3028 sambaPrimaryGroupSID:

[PATCH] Group mapping primary group SID update
Hi all ! This is a patch for Group mapping bug #1 reported here : http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2004-January/034057.html It activates users' primary group SID update when adding/modifying/deleting a group mapping. It patches utils/net_groupmap.c (net_groupmap_add, net_groupmap_modify, net_groupmap_delete) and can be applied to samba-3.0.2rc1. net_groupmap_add : Scan users

The primary group domain sid(...) does not match the domain sid(.) for user(...)
I have a domain member server running totally separate authorization against an LDAP server independent of the domain. Refer to the email chain "[Samba] WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND error with RFC2307" for more details if necessary. All user and group authentication against the AD server works correctly, and all user and group authorization using the LDAP server works correctly with my

Primary Group SID
Hi Everyone, Looking for that little extra bit of explanation about Primary groups, SID's and GID's. Just to help me over that final little understanding hurdle... Anyone know of a nice site with info? I printed out <http://ftp.easynet.be/samba/docs/man/howto/> from stem to stern. But this primary group thing baffles me just a little. I need to set it so that I can connect to my

Samba+LDAP: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL because of primary group SID mismatch
Hi, I'm trying to get my new samba server running for a few days now and I start losing my mind over not figuring out what I'm doing wrong. Here's my setup: OpenLDAP 2.4.21 server with ~15 groups and >100 users, all having a unix and a samba NT password stored in the LDAP as well as a User SID and Primary Group SID assigned and stored in the LDAP, derived from the SID of the LDAP

HFSC and that ATM overhead problem (Another VOIP QoS post. Ahhhh)
G''Day I would like to be able to use my VOIP telephone over a saturated ADSL link whilst enjoying optimum audio quality and utilising all of the bandwidth I pay for. It is about this situation that I write. HFSC appears to be the queueing discipline of choice for VOIP. In order for this to work, though, do I have to account for the ATM overhead in the small VOIP packets by defining my

Incorrect domain SID when creating new users
Hi, I created a new user on our Samba domain master yesterday but the user was unable to login from WinXP to the domain. I think they got an error that a device connected to the system wasn't working. The user was created using smbldap-useradd. The logs showed this for the user workstation: _netr_LogonSamLogon: user FOO\efields has user sid S-1-5-21-908662176-1457135431-1537874043-3288

Primary Group ID (Well-Known RIDs)
Hello all, I have following situation: There are users that don't have the well-known RID 513, so groupmapping like Domain Users (S-1-5-21-<domain SID part>-513) -> users doesn't have any effect. There are users that have the primary group RID 545, 2001 and 1201. That's somehow messy. Is there any chance to get the Domain Users into the well-known primary group rid 513?

User Primary group problem
How do I establish both a user's primary NTgroup and Unixgroup when creating a new user? Depending on the tool, I can set his NTgroup or his Unix group, but I don't seem to be able to establish both with one tool. I'm having a little difficulty with creating users with the proper groups. My login scripts are based on the user's primary group. When I create a new user with

User Group SID behavior has changed from 21b to 23c
I am using LDAP as my backend. I have 6 PDC's running Samba 3.0.21b, each domain has a different SID. I store all user, groups, and machine accounts in one LDAP database. So that when I create a user once, all domains can see the user. This keeps me from having to create a user account on each domain for cross domain file sharing. The behavior for Domains running Samba 3.0.21b is a follows.

Samba PDC Server Local SID, Domain SID, and GROUP RID Question
Hi, I have a question regarding an issue I am having with our new Samba PDC. We used to be running an NT domain controller and about two months ago, I made the transition to a Debian linux box running Samba. The PDC is currently running Samba 3.0.8. My samba PDC is using the tdbsam backend and, for the most part is working flawlessly. However, when using smbpasswd to add samba accounts, I

LDAP different Group SID -- not supported for NETLOGON calls
Hello list, I have two Samba-LDAP DC's each in different networks, domain AMECC_SAL (192.168.40.0/24) and domain AMECC_GUA (192.168.42./24). I have established a inter-domain trust relationship in both directions. My problem comes when I try to log into a machine in the AMECC_SAL domain using any user from the AMECC_GUA domain. The machine?s name in which I want to sign in is cc03. The

CHANGING PRIMARY GROUP
Hi to all, I have a samba acting as a PDC with 'passdb backend=smbpasswd'. My version of samba is 3.0.14a on linux Debian 2.6.8. I have defined an interdomain trusted connection with a NT4 domain. I can see the trusted accounts and groups, and add them to local group with the 'net rpc group.' command. My problem is when I want to allow one user from this trusted

Group SID problems?
Have a site where the network users are connecting to most shares through group usage. Unfortunately, access to Samba is sporadic. Sometimes they connect okay, sometimes they can't connect at all. Looking at their system config, I notice that the SID's for the groups look..... odd. The users group ends in 3005.... but each user's PrimaryGroupSID is a group with a SID that ends in
