backup
I just installed samba4 on ubuntu 14.04 from de repositories: # samba --version Version 4.1.6-Ubuntu I wanted to make a backup but *samba_backup* was missing, so I download 4.1.7 using Git and configured it. The problem is it isn't working, tar is stopping because it refuses to create and empty file. I tracked it to the second *tar* in the script, and *echoed* it: # samba_backup

Hai, First thing i would do is try the real hostname of the server and not localhost. Your ad domain controler hostname is not localhost. I cannt test it yet, im not yet on 4.9.2 with the DC's. But I would try it like this: samba-tool domain backup online --server=$(hostname -s) --targetdir=/mnt/backupsamba/ -U Administrator Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- >

backup script exit with error (probably because of tar warning)
Hi dear list members It's some time that we have issue regarding backup script of samba 4.0.10. It exits with error: "Error while archiving /home/a/samba-backup/samba4_private.121114.tar.bz2" After some troubleshooting, I noticed it is PROBABLY because of tar, issuing this warning with the exit code of 1: "tar: ./private: file changed as we read it" It is related to this

samba_backup
Hallo, i tried to backup samba4 by using the samba_backup script. I removed ?>/dev/null 2>&1?-Pipe from the tar-commands. Tar could not archive the temporary msg-files, because they where open. My question is, do I need the temporary msg-files for a complete samba4 database-backup? Thank you. tar: ./private/smbd.tmp/msg/msg.31043.1: socket ignored tar:

Hi all, as for samba sernet installation, the etc direction is located in to /etc and the private in to /var/lib/samba, as the sysvol to /var/lib/samba also, i adjust the parameter FROMWHERE=/usr/local/samba to : FROMWHERE=/etc/samba FROMWHERE=/var/lib/samba/private FROMWHERE=/usr/local/samba/sysvol WHERE=/usr/local/backups When I run the script , i receive a tar error that said : tar refuse

backup script problem with samba 4.0.10
Hi dear list members It's about 10 months that we have setup our samba 4.0.10 and using it as the only domain controller and LDAP server (please note that our server's hardware crashed 10 months ago and we did restore a bit old backups and rejoin all computers to the domain). To backup the samba database, I stop samba service at 2:00 AM every night and backup using samba_backup script

Get the script from github.. https://github.com/thctlo/samba4/tree/master/backup-script   and only change these 2.   This one is generated by the script, it speeds up the cron job. SCRIPT_COMMANDS_FILE="/etc/samba/backup_samba4_commands"   And the location of where your backups go. STOREDIR=/home/backups/`hostname –s`   Run it and it works ;-) , if not i ow you.. ;-)

samba-backup.sh problems - is the /var/lib/samba/etc folder essential in a Samba installation?
Hi everyone, I am running Samba 4.5.16-Debian on Raspbian OS and I am currently attempting to deploy the provided samba-backup.sh script within my existing SAMBA installation to implement disaster recovery on my AD DC servers. Following the documentation provided here https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_the_samba_backup_script I have so far managed a partial success on my backup: pi at
