INBOX stored in AFS
Hello,
currently we are storing the incoming mail in the user's home directory,
which is within a distributed filesystem called AFS (OpenAFS).
Accessing the "mbox" file directly (using the distributed filesystem)
works fine with mutt, thunderbird, ...
To access the INBOX from a machine, which does not have access to this
distributed filesystem, we are using IMAP (UW-imap).
Now I

rsync-3.0.8: problem with installing man pages when using seperate build dir
Hi all,
there is a little problem when building rsync outside it's source dir with
installing the man pages: they are not found and therefor not installed. The
attached patch fixes this situation.
Kind regards,

Custom Mail Directory for some users
Hi list,
I'm new on this mailing list and I'm kind of stucked at the moment.
I managed to get Postfix and Dovecot working together with Amavis,
OpenLDAP und SASL on Ubuntu Linux Release "Dapper Drake". The Dovecot
version shipped with Dapper is 1.0-beta3 (at least, that's what the
package database tells me), I also tried this with a Debian Backport of
version 1.0-rc15.

how to get r-squared for a predefined curve or function with "other" data points
hello mailing list!
i still consider myself an R beginner, so please bear with me if my
questions seems strange.
i'm in the field of biology, and have done consecutive hydraulic
conductivity measurements in three parallels ("Sample"), resulting in three
sets of conductivity values ("PLC" for percent loss of conductivity,
relative to 100%) at multiple pressures

substitution of the ASCII character "squared" AKA "^2" AKA (alt+0178) with a tractable one
Deae R helpers,
the problem I'm facing today is related to the manipulation of a string.
The string is coming from a a porosimeter, whose control is under a
complicate set-up of two computers
One (running on DOS) is controlling directly the hardware, while the
other (running on win XP) which process the data is connected to the
first one via serial. I get the data from this last computer.

is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?
Hello people,
I used primarily mutt and sendmail for many years. (And elm
before mutt.) All my mail was saved into ~/Mail. Messages
from, say, smith at foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail
from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to
find something that smith had written, I would just cd to
~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase.
Is there a script

Bubble plot on shapefile - projection issues?
Dear R help list,

I am working on some data from a study on the habitat use and movement patterns of fish using a marine protected area in Hawaii.? We have a number of acoustic receivers in a MPA, and any time a tagged fish passes within range it records the date and time of detection.? I am trying to make bubble plots?showing the number of detections for each fish at each receiver.? I have been

10 GbE PCI passthrough
Dear all,
we are trying to get our virtual machines to work performant with our 10
GbE cards (lspci says: NetXen Incorporated NX3031 Multifunction
1/10-Gigabit Server Adapter (rev 42)).
When doing some benchmarks it was noticed that especially on the
receiving side, the virtualization layer hits a significant performance
impact and therefore we went for a PCI passthrough, so that the VMs can

ood morning,
I am reaching out to discus an issue I am having with setting a working
directing.
I have tried github, stack overload, setwd, getwd, all to no avail. I am
used to setting a working directory in 3.1.1 and have yet to get 3.4.1 to
work properly.
Let me know if there is anyone who I can talk to about this.
Thank you so much,
My best,

plot method for rasters and layout
Hi list,
I thought I was used to layouts, but today I am facing a problem I cannot
overcome :
On my R installation (Windows 7 Pro, SP1, R version 2.13.0, daily update of
packages), I am not able to put raster plots in user defined layouts :
> layout.matrix<-matrix(c(1,2,3,4,5,5),2,3)
> layout(mat=layout.matrix)
> layout.show(5)
works fine, I get the correct frames in

Hi listeRs,
Maybe I have missed something, but I am facing a problem I don't understand
even after reading archives and manuals (…maybe not carefully enough !) :
On my PC (64-bit OS, Intel Xeon CPU , two L5506@2.13 GHz processors, 12 Go

I run both 32-bit (i386-pc-mingw32/i386) and 64-bit (x86_64-pc-mingw32/x64)

[Fwd: Re: Coefficients of Logistic Regression from bootstrap - how to get them?]
I think the argument supporting the use of bootstrap to determine
coefficients, as opposed to just running linear regression on the whole
dataset, is the comparison of Rsq and prediction errors between these
two approaches - page 1502. There's a substantial difference in favor of
the bootstrap approach.
