Email pid issue
Hello gents,
First time poster here!
Current system running Centos 6.8. Buddy of mine posted a few days back about me wanting to move
from Postfix 2.6.x to 2.8 to above, still under centos 6.8. I might move over to 7, but probably
not for a while, don't have the resources presently to make this happen.
Running Centos 6.8, postfix 2.6.6, clamav 0.99.1. Basic Centos 6.8 box fully patched

Clamd and Amavis
I'm trying to get amavis to play using clamd and tried to follow this:
# ### http://www.clamav.net/
['ClamAV-clamd',
\&ask_daemon, ["CONTSCAN {}\n", "/var/run/clamav/clamd"],
qr/\bOK$/, qr/\bFOUND$/,
qr/^.*?: (?!Infected Archive)(.*) FOUND$/ ],
# # NOTE: run clamd under the same user as amavisd, or run it under its own
# # uid such as clamav, add

Did I install too much for clamav?
I just checked the status of amavisd:
# systemctl -l status amavisd
? amavisd.service - Amavisd-new is an interface between MTA and content
checkers.

More on amavis/clam permission errors on Centos 6.3
I should probably find either the amavis or clam list(s) and take this
there?
Anyway, I have totally rebuilt my machine with clean installs. I have
spent time carefully (I hope!) studying the amavis and clamav conf files
before starting them and running the tests. Here is what I am getting:

clamd@amavisd fails under systemd
Trying to set up a mail server under CentOS7 - having done this with
CentOS5 and CentOS6 over the last decade with no issues and reliable
service, it was time to upgrade (?) to CentOS7. Shouldn't be a problem,
right?
Getting to grips with systemd has been challenging - to say the least.
So a brief overview of what I am trying to set up:
postfix / amavisd-new / spamassassin / clamav so we

Postfix , Dovecot & the Spam fight
Hi,
I'm currently busy with a substiution of my current mail server. I'm
currently using
* Clam-SMTP and
* SpamAssassin
to fight Spam. I wonder if it is worth implementing AmaViS with
SpamAssassin backend instead and also using AmaViS to speak to clamd
directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It
currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of

clamd / amavisd missing socket
I think something along these lines appeared before
but I was unable to find them.
I'm on a 7.6 system, been running clamav and amavisd-new
since 6 days with little problem. On a recent reboot,
clamd at amavisd does not start up and fails manual start.
The problem seems to be the missing socket that connects
the pair, "/var/run/clamd.amavisd/clamd.socket".
I believe this should

How to extract one file from rpm using yum?
I want to get the original version of /etc/clamd.d/amavis.conf from the
amavisd-new rpm to get the defaults to submit a bug report. I could not
figure out how to do this, so I did a reinstall, but it did not replace
this file (whatprovides says it comes from this rpm).
Is there a way to extract just the one file, and better yet, place it
elsewhere than its regular destination?
thanks

Centos7 and clamd
On my Centos6 mailserver (really Redsleeve6), I installed clamav and
clamd (and lots more).
I am working up to moving to Centos7 (really Centos7-arm), and no
clamd. clamav is there.
So is the clamd functions moved into clamav now or what do I do to get
whatever clamd did for me? :)
thanks

CentOS-7 amavisd
Is anyone running amavisd and clamd under CentOS-7?
Amavisd-new seems difficult to install,
and clamd is difficult to find.
(I've only added the epel repository,
as I had a conflict when I added rpmforge as well.)
I take it amavis is still the recommended way to run postfix?

Help in starting spamassassin
I have installed spamassassin, per the instructions on Scalix's wiki,
and it is working, with some important caviats. So I asked for help on
the spamassassin user list, and got some, but I think I am butting up
against some Centos specific issues...
This is what I am seeing in the maillog:

Setting up postfix under CentOS-6
I recently, perhaps foolishly, changed over a remote server
from sendmail/procmail to postfix/amavis/spamassassin/clamd ,
and I'm finding it difficult to configure this setup.
The CentOS document <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix>
explicitly says that its instructions may not work in CentOS-6.
Does anyone know of reasonably simple postfix documentation
for CentOS-6?
