Kickstart putting /boot on sda2 (anaconda partition enumeration)?
Does anyone know how anaconda partitioning enumerates disk partitions when
specified in kickstart? I quickly browsed through the anaconda installer
source on github but didn't see the relevant bits.
I'm using the centOS 6.10 anaconda installer.
Somehow I am ending up with my swap partition on sda1, /boot on sda2, and
root on sda3. for $REASONS I want /boot to be the partition #1 (sda1)

possible LVM corruption?
While updating a hypervisor, I'm getting the following errors printed to
the terminal during rpm upgrade scripts.? The first line is printed 15
times, and GRUB prints a similar error at boot.? "vgck" doesn't seem to
find any problems.? Does anyone have suggestions for diagnosing the issue?

centos31 anaconda bug with lvm lvcreate?
Hi
I just tried to install centos3.1 from the 3cd.
I removed all existing partitions and made a custom partitionning:
a /boot partition /dev/hda1
and a lvm physical volume for the rest: /dev/hda2
in the lvm volume group I placed all other partitions including root (/)
The anaconda crashed because of an error in lvcreate for the root
partition.
Is there a problem with that?
I did reboot and

can not lvcreate after lvm snapshot and "xm mem-set" and lvremove
I am not sure if it''s a xen bug or lvm bug, or just my bad hardware,
but here''s how to reproduce:
/dev/vg0/centos1 is lvm block used by a domainU, it''s 8G in size.
#lvcreate -L8192M -s -n snap1 vg0
#mount /dev/vg0/snap1 /mnt
do some copying files here
#umount /mnt
#lvremove /dev/vg0/snap1
not removed! it says can''t allocated memory
#xm mem-set 0 512
#lvremove

Centos 5.2 Install - lvcreate failed for ...
!st install of 5.2; system requires custom partitioning (Scalix mail

Boot and Swap are hard partitions, rest of drive is LVM.
In LVM, three ext3 partitions: /, /home, /var/opt/scalix
lvcreate failed for the last (named Scalix_02). It was the last of the
three partitions and used up the remainder of the LVM space.

FreeBSD 10 Beta 2: make installkernel failure with installer provided ZFS configuration.
Hi,
I was trying to rebuild world on a FreeBSD 10 test system, that I had just
installed. ZFS root was setup. I let the installation program do all the
ZFS setup and configuration. I put root on a 5 disk encrypted raidz array.
Besides the installer configuring 5 times the amount of swap space I asked
for (asked for 8gb, installer put 8gb on each drive, for 40gb in total.)
everything was working

Working example of logical storage pool and volume creation?
Hi all,
Does anyone have a working example of creation of a logical storage pool
and volume?
I'm hitting a wall getting logical volumes to work on RHEL 6 beta.
There's a single drive I'm trying to setup (sdc) as a libvirt managed
logical storage pool, but all volume creation on it fails.
Here's what I'm finding so far:
Prior to any storage pool work, only the host

how to resize a partition of a disk define as a physical volume
I should have added the output of pvs:
[root ~]# pvs
PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree
/dev/xvda2 cl_vm731611 lvm2 a-- 9.00g 0
PFree still show 0. It should show 5g.
Also:
[root ~]# pvdisplay /dev/xvda2
--- Physical volume ---
PV Name /dev/xvda2
VG Name cl_vm731611
PV Size 9.00 GiB / not usable 2.00 MiB

Confusing output from pvdisplay

LVM issue
Hi We use AoE disks for some of our systems. Currently, a 15.65Tb filesystem we have is full, I then extended the LVM by a further 4Tb but resize4fs could not handle a filesystem over 16Tb (CentOS 5.5). I then reduced the lvm by the same amount, and attempted to create a new LV, but get this error message in the process
lvcreate -v -ndata2 -L2T -t aoe
Test mode: Metadata will NOT be updated.

problems with PV snapshots
Hello,
I have a Centos 6.2 clsuter with a CLVM partition on which I have a GFS2
file system.
The problem rises when I make a snapshot from my FC NetAPP FAS2020.
After I make the snapshot (it is a rw snapshot) of my LUN, I am not able
to mount it from any of my cluster nodes,
because the Physical Volume is seen two times one time on the standard
LVM partition
and the other time on the snapshot

Shrinking a RAID array
My google-fu appears to be weak today...
I currently have 8*4Tb in a RAID6.
So far I'm only using 6Tb
PV VG Fmt Attr PSize PFree Used
/dev/md6 Large lvm2 a-- 21.83t 15.37t 6.46t
Let's say I wanted to remove 2 of these disks from the array and
shrink it down to a 6*4Tb
How would I do this?
