samba4wins nbd_server implementation & configuration
Hi,
Confused and bewildered as usual, so ask the guys who know.
samba4wins is now implemented and part of the samba4 package?
Is there a configuration guide?
I guess nbd_server needs to be part of the equation so could you point to some resources on setup as I don't think I have noticed anything in the wiki?
Probably just me :)
Many Thanks

Making a group membership matrix
Hi Helpers:
I have a factor object that has 314k entries of 39 land cover types.
(This object can be coerced to characters neatly should that be easier
to work with.)

Apols but would someone please forward some info on this.
I want to connect to samba4 and all I can seem to find are results of the now non existent configuration script.
I think you might start to find an increase on uptake and the removal might of been premature?
Make me happy anyway as confused at the moment.

Samba 4.0.17 Available for Download
Hi Bjorn,
I don't know if there are any compile switches they provide more debugging / log options.
I guess its easy to modify the start up script so that logging is at a max.
Was just an after thought really. I just think binaries for distro's are really important and many thanks.
Stuart.
PS I never got a reply but with 4.1.6 but with vfs objects = btrfs declared in smb.conf disk

4.1.7 Server Side Copies & Disk Permissions
As soon as I add the declaration for server side copies I hit problems with disk permissions.
Same as in 4.1.6 and always the same so I will not bother to add a log.
If you follow http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share
But have vfs objects = btrfs declared all is different.
You can add users and groups but the default Everyone, CREATOR GROUP and a Unknown you just can't

Samba-tool OU create
Hi,
Sort of half asked this before and didn't really get a reply.
The ability to create, delete and list OU's would seem to be a fundamental but for some reason is missing.
Could anyone supply any details if its planned or are there alternative methods to create without the use of RSAT?

packages for ecologists
Hello R-user,
sorry for this very off-topic question.
But I shall present R to my dept. (pro's and con's and what it can do).
The pro's and con's are easy but not what R can do (additional to the "normal"
statistics).
I looked through the packages, but the enormous amount of packages makes it
very difficult for me to decide which one is worth mentioning.
I used

packages for ecologists - summary
Dear R user,
I asked for packages which should be mentioned in a ecological related
presentation of R and would like to summarize the replies.
First of all E. Paradis pointed out, that he would prefer to see R presented
in a different way, please read his whole reply https://

VLAN vs RealLan
Given a choice, and a green-field site, would you
a) Have a separate network (switches etc) for your data and phone
b) Use the same network, but use VLAN's ??
What are the pro's and con's of each ?
TIA

ecological meaning of randomForest vegetation classification?
Hi, everyone,
I haven't found anything similar in the forum, so here's my problem (I'm no
expert in R nor statistics):
I have a data set of 59.000 cases with 9 variables each (fractional
coverage of 9 different plant types, such as deciduous broad-leaved
temperate trees or evergreen tropical trees etc.), which was generated by a
vegetation model.
In order to evaluate the quality of

[LLVMdev] example of language with vector as first class type
To state my objective again because I was unclear about it. I want to write
a interpretor/compiler that can handles mathematical vector/matrix with
linear algebra operation on llvm. Something like matlab/R. I am thinking at
a higher level like performing type, and shape inference on matrix/vector
type, unrolling the inner loop of matrix operation of full algebraic
expression instead of computing

conf files vs astdb
Hi all,
Could someone please tell me what is the relative "cost" in using conf files oppose to the astdb? Basically I need to match a name to a phone number in order to have all users registered by name and not by number (which I understood is not a good practice). I have 2000 users and a complex dial-plan and server resources become an issue.
I could implement this via a context in my

Asterisk and SER differences
Hello All,
I have been trying to do a lot of reading lately on the Asterisk project,
and I would like to know of someone could tell me mor about the PRO's and
CON's between ASTERISK and SER?
I have heard that some people use them both in a particular VoIP design
and I would like to try and understand why you might want to do that along
with how the two can work totegher and communicate.
