Perf enhancements in Samba4.1 related to SMB2.1 / SMB3.0 protocol
Hi Everyone, My doubts are for Samba4.1 performance related enhancements (SMB2.1 / SMB3.0). My experimental samba server hardware is running 4.1 version. Want to improve robocopy WRITE throughput from a two samba client machines (win7 or win8 or server2012 x86 servers). Someone please advice me how can I use SMB2.1 or SMB3.0 capabilities to improve WRITE throughput. I tried samba4.1

Microsoft Hyper-V over SMB 3.0
We have a project about Microsoft Hyper-V by using our storage. We want to use Samba to share our storage to Hyper-V. And we know from Microsoft homepage hyper-v(windows 2012) only support smb3.0 protocol, but right now the newest version of Samba don?t? fully support SMB3.0 protocol. I tried the version of Samba4.0.6, Samba3.6.9, but both failed to create virtual hosts using Hyper-V.

How secure is SMB3 over internet?
Thanks for the reply. I was checking this with several IT professionals and the consensus was that it should never be exposed over the internet (even SMB3.0) and they all recommended to use it over SSH or VPN. A couple of people said there are more security professionals venting/using/supporting SSH which is why they recommend using that. I was just wondering, would this just be the leftover

答复: implement of persistent handle in SMB2.1
hi Michael, Sorry for taking so long to reply, I just get back on vacation. Your advice is very helpful. Our purpose is no IO interrupted with Window 7 cifs client accessing the shared folder when virtual IP taken over by another node. SMB3.0 or newer protocol do meet that demand, but Window 7 cifs client only supports SMB2.1 protocol and previous versions. So we need implement a

Samba 3.0 + LDAP as PDC
At the risk of having my inbox flooded with another 10,000 Emails from "Microsoft" proporting the "latest security update".. Now that smb3.0 is out and about, I'd really like to use it for authenticating windows users / PDC (With BDC in the plans) My problem is that there seems to be little to zero up to date documentation on how to integrate Samba and LDAP, the most I

SMB3.0 with XP Home and Win98SE clients. XP no go, what should I do?
I want to have SMB server to authenticate all my users. Problem is that I have 8 Win98SE workstations and 2 XP Home laptops. I know XP Home won't do domain log-ons. What are my options (I would realy hate giving M$ more money by upgrading laptops to PRO)? How can I do user based log-ins in that kind of environment? Thanks, Apollo

security = domain and Mac OS X
I've set up Samba on Mac OS X to do pass through authentication to the nt domain in AD several times now. No big deal, it usually just works. Now, however, it doesn't appear to be working. Note the relevant part of the transaction below (loglevel 4). Steps to replicate: a) Add pre-Win2K account with AD Users and computers b) sudo smbpasswd -j EXAMPLE -r WINSERVER -U

This may even be an easy first implementation. I use this method with filtering unused in nested function args and local vars in my YAFL frontend

why windows 10 can't access centos samba
Hi, windows 7 supports smb3. If centos's samba server suport smb3, how to make windows 10 support smb3 too? Thanks! [LLVMdev] Several questions about LLVM
Hello, I'm new to LLVM but I see lots of potential on it for something that I'm working on. I have a few questions about it: 1) I know there is a MSIL backend which is still at an experimental phase. When will it be ready? The same question for the MIPS backend. 2) Is there any plan or work being done to implement a Java backend? 3) I saw the passes feature. I think this can be very

smbmount discontinued?
In a past thread I've notice that smbmount (and mount's suport for it) will be discontinued and smbclient should be used insted. Sorry if the question is too lame but I use it in some of my systems now and I think I'll have trouble porting then to smbclient. Is smbmount been removed because it relays on kernel smb support? Samba will not need smb support in kernel in the

CIFS in fstab
Hi, folks, I have a difficulty using a cifs connection... O/S: Mandrake 10.0, updated kernel, at 2.6.8.1-12mdk, running Samba 3.0.7 packages. I'm trying to mount, via CIFS a share on a Windows 2003 server. I have no control over the use of smb signing, so I need to use cifs, not smbfs (the organisation as a whole has over 25000 users, using numerous servers, almost exclusively Microsoft

[LLVMdev] Instruction Constraints Question
We've discovered a problem in the AVX2 gather patterns X86InstrSSE.td. According to the AVX2 manual, no two of the destination register, vector index register and mask register can be the same. The patterns in X86InstrSSE.td are missing this constraint and it's possible to generate an illegal instruction. It doesn't look like TableGen supports Constraints beyond EARLY_CLOBBER and

How to let one node superior?
Hello all, This is a newbie question and it is very simple. In my local network of 10M bandwidth. I'd like to allow my PC to have a 9M bandwidth. While all the other PCs share the rest 1M bandwidth. Suppose my pc 192.168.3.2 gateway 192.168.3.1. Then, how could I set it in my gateway linux box? I think I should use tbf. Maybe, I need a cbq, but how to do it? The tc does not surport !

mystified by interaction between krb5.conf, smb.conf, and winbindd
I am stumped here. I am a novice at using samba to do MS Active Directory stuff, but I have read everything I could find in the HOWTO collection and on the linux.samba cache of the list and am still stuck. A bit of background... I have set up a Windows 2003 server as a domain controller here and configured it to be the DNS for a ficticious domain for internal use only. The domain functional
