Must Samba4 AD be provisionned with rfc2307 to use winbind ?
Oh I think I must of misread what you and steve where discussing.
What is confusing me is the output of samba-tool domain level show
Forest function level: (Windows) 2003
Domain function level: (Windows) 2003
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2
I thought it might of been because rfc2307 schema included was of 2008r2 ilk.
Why does it always say the lowest function level is

phpldapadmin URI
Apols but would someone please forward some info on this.
I want to connect to samba4 and all I can seem to find are results of the now non existent configuration script.
I think you might start to find an increase on uptake and the removal might of been premature?
Make me happy anyway as confused at the moment.

null session and "restrict anonymous" default value on samba4 AD
Hi everyone,
there have already been some talk in the past about the null session
access on samba, and that keeping "restrict anonymous" parameter below
level 2 was necessary for NT4 domain support. [1]
However I was wondering if it could be changed. For instance, on a
samba4.4.5 AD with the default settings, when you run the following
command, you'll get the domain user list

Restrict permission changes
Hello,
I've a share with preset permissions on different directories including acls.
So in one folder for example users can only read and into other read and write.
Everything works fine. The Problem is if one user decides to change the
permission of a file or directory (via Windows) the acls and permissions get
are messed up.
How can I restrict users from changing permission on a share? I

PHP ldap_start_tls
I have samba4 4.1.9 on ubuntu 14.04 and I am trying to connect with phpldapadmin.
Problem seems to be with the start tls and that PHP ldap_start_tls doesn't like self signed certificates that are not in the local ca.
The samba certs are in /var/lib/samba/private/tls.
Does php ldap_start_tls use /etc/ldap/ldap.conf ?

best practice for migrating win-dc to samba-dc
Hi:
I want to test migrating windows dc to samba dc (without
considering sysvol replication).
I installed brand new 2003R2, 2008R2, 2012R2 (with 2008R2
functional level).
I compiled samba 4.7.7, 4.8.1 at centos 7.4.
1. I tried to join samba as DC to windows with command:
samba-tool domain join samdom.example.com DC
-U"SAMDOM\administrator"

SWIGging ConfigBase
Hi all
I''m trying to write an .i file for ConfigBase. If I can figure out a few
general SWIG things then I think most of it will work. Apols for the
noob swig questions.
The C++ class has lots of overloaded methods called Read, which return
different kinds of values. In wxruby-not-swig these are implemented as
read, read_bool, read_int and so on. read() means read_string(). In ruby

Install Exchange 2013 with Samba ADC
Hello.
I'm trying to install Exchange 2013 (SP1 CU5) on a domain with only a
Samba ADC (because I've had many problems trying to get OpenChange to
work with Outlook 2013.) I've already hacked the attributes of the ADC's
LDAP entry so Exchange is happy with the OS version (see my previous
post,) but I want to find out if there are any known problems with
letting Exchange make

Running Wine on removable media
Apols if there is already an answer to this on the forum but couldn't find it with Search...
I'm new to Linux and to Wine. I have just made the conversion from Windows and run Ubuntu/Hardy - my Windows box has a h/w failure. There are some facilities I need urgently from Windows(XP) that I haven't yet sussed in Linux, notably the ability to edit and store multipage Tiffs and mdi docs

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone,
I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The
forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually
missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes
the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log
message (which is quite explicit :-)

Problems with accessing samba share in Windows 2008R2 domain
Hi,
After upgrading the Windows DCs from Windows 2003R2 to Windows 2008R,
the domain functional level was raised from Windows 2000 to Windows
2008R2. As a consequence of this action, I found that a Application
Management GPO no longer worked pushing applications to the companies
desktops.
After some tweaking I found out in one MS document that a Windows 2008R2
domain can not authenticate a

Replication issues between Samba 4.10.2 (schema mismatch)
Hello,
I?m getting some replication errors between Samba and Windows Server2008R2:
Last attempt @ 2019-08-02 11:34:51 was delayed for a normal reason, result 8418 (0x20e2):
The replication operation failed because of a schema mismatch between the servers involved.
If I create new users on the Samba side, they no longer show up on the Windows 2008R2 Server LDAP instance.
Would anyone be
