Problem with adding an Samba Member Server to a Samba AD Domain
Hi List,
I found some threads here in the list with similar problems, but nothing
helped to solve my problem.
We have a very much to old Samba DC (Version 4.1.x) and a new Samba
4.5.6 which should act as a member server.
The first problem we had during joining the domain:
"net ads join -k" didn't work.
The Error Message said: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info

too many open files
Hello list,
I have a problem with a samba 4.1.2 (Sernet Package) on SLES 11 SP3.
Every few days samba (which works as a single ad controller) says
"NT_STATUS_TOO_MANY_OPENED_FILES" and stopps working. To fix this
Problem our customer reboots the machine.
The logfile says:

Samba AD changing a user's password as non-root user
Hi!
I'm using Samba in an AD setup, (version 4.2.0) and I'm looking for a way to
change the password of a user from the command line, as a non-root user.
I know I can use 'smbpasswd', 'samba-tool user setpassword', or 'samba-tool
user password', but these all seem to require root privileges. When I run
them as root, they work, but when I run them as non-root

Samba4 bind DNS
Hello,
one of my S4 ADs shows a strange behavior. The Server is a stand-alone
ad controller with bind (bind_dlz) as dns-server. The Samba Version is
4.1.2 running on SLES11 SP3.
If i add a new A-record with the DNS-Tool from the Microsoft
remote-server-tools an check the box "verkn?pften PTR-Eintrag
erstellen", it creates the A-Record, but not the pointer-record.
If i join the

Again: Release 0.8.4 GPL PV-Drivers for Windows
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello James,
have you ever tested the pv-drivers on W2k SP4? ;-)
At first there is a little failure in install.bat. The version-number of
w2k starts with "5.00" instead of "5.0.". So your script couldn''t
recognize w2k.
The rest of the installation looks ok, but after rebooting the vm
nothing happens. Theres still the

Unique in DataFrame
Hello,
I have little doubt, and I do not think that the way I solve the problem
is the best way to do it.
The following is a small dataset
x<-data.frame(city="Barcelona",sales=253639)
x<-rbind(x,data.frame(city="Madrid",sales=223455))
x<-rbind(x,data.frame(city="Lisbon",sales=273633))

column names with rbind loop
Hello R users.
This is a fairly basic question:
I am concatenating data from sets of files in a directory using a loop. The column names in all files are exactly the same. My understanding is that rbind takes column names from the first file it reads. However, my output is showing that the column names are treated as a first data row, not treated as headers.
I compile my file names like this:

Accessing ISDN with avm bluetooth hardware
Hi *,
This is my first message to this list, so I hope I am not breaking any rule with my post.
My question is the following: can I establish a voice connection over an ISDN interface by using a
bluetooth dongle to connect to the ISDN access point?
Here follow the details:
I have compiled and configured asterisk. Everything seems fine except that when I configure
asterisk to use the ISDN

R linux install: FORTRAN compiling error
Hello,
I have basic familiarity with Unix but by most standards a novice. I am
trying to install R on a linux machine and am following the instructions in
the R install and admin guide in terms of what is required to compile the R
source code. I downloaded R version 2.11.1 and extracted the files into my
home directory. I realize I need a FORTRAN compiler to help with this
process and have

Problem resolved: thanks! RE: column names with rbind loop
Thanks to both Weidong and David for the help! By implementing both of your suggestions I was able to make this work. I did end up putting header=TRUE for both read operations.

Differentiating between normal site content and accounts with subdomains
I''m using the subdomains as accounts method fine on a project, but
I''m wondering what is the best way to differentiate between account
subdomains to access the app using an account, and www.domain.com and
domain.com in order to show normal site content.
I''ve noticed that on Backpack, it seems that when you leave the
information pages and start using the app,

Problem mapping Samba shares in Windows
Hi,
In our company we are currently running a Samba server and Windows XP clients.
At the moment we are having problems with mapping Samba shares in Windows.
Shares are being mapped through a windows startup script, which executes net use (with the option persistent:no) command.
For most users this works most of the time, nevertheless it often fails, the exect reason for this isn't clear

Problems compiling (configure) R on Ubuntu linux (debian)
Hello!
I would first like to appologice if this question does not fit on this
mailing-list.
I am new to Linux and I tried to compile R on my Ubuntu Warty linux. I
followed the instructions in "R Installation and Administration" manual. It
seams that there was a problem with "configure", since when running "make"
afterward gave me this reply:
