Setting up new spacewalk server
We have a DHCP/PXE server in a build environment, which is separate from our Spacewalk v1.5 server. We direct builds to Satellite or Spacewalk based as needed. It contains initrd & vmlinuz files for each version/arch we currently deploy for both RHEL & CEL. I'd like to keep the storage footprint to a minimum, if possible. Keeping a big directory of ISOs to loop-mount for kickstart

Spacewalk or Puppet?
I am a little new to managing large numbers of CentOS/RHEL servers and was wondering what you experienced sysadmins prefer, Spacewalk or Puppet? Spacewalk howto for CentOS 5
Hi, I would like to contribute a howto page about the configuration of Spacewalk for package management under CentOS 5. Spacewalk is the upstream project for the source of RedHat Network Satellite. It provides a management interface for software updates across registered servers and desktops. Here is were I would like to put this page: <http://www.redhat.com/red_hat_network/>

Satellite 6
Hi Everyone, Since Satellite 6 is an amalgam of other F/OSS projects and is no longer solely based on Spacewalk, is a new upstream project for Satellite 6 going to be created? BEtter yet, is a new upstream project already available? Ranbir -- Kanwar R.S. Sandhu

Upgrade security relevant packages
Hello, I'm looking for a solution to automatically yum update security relevant packages on a couple hundred Centos6/7 servers. The deployment/trigger would be Ansible. I looked into the "yum-plugin-security" and tested it on a CentOS 6 installation but always found no security relevant updates (yum list-security/yum --security update) where there should be at least a couple

Spacewalk Client Tools from Stahnma
Dear Patrice, I have noticed that you are referencing to the Stahnma repository for Spacewalk Client Tools. These are quite old and I would suggest to use the tools from: http://spacewalk.redhat.com/yum instead. Mr. Suchy already pushed some of the packages to Fedora/EPEL so they might be available there, soon. Besides that the Spacewalk Team is thinking about a split between client/server on

Installping puppet with kickstart -- Cannot find local fact /proc/cpuinfo
Hi I have been trying to get puppet working with kickstart. I am trying to install Hadoop on the nodes. Installing puppet from kickstart work and when the machine restarts, certificates are pulled down and hadoop user is created and files are extracted. I want all the user creation etc to be done before the machine reboots so that I can set up init.d scripts to do a start of hadoop . So I

CentOS 6 sync from ftp yum repos into Spacewalk
Hello, When I try to sync CentOS 6 from different ftp mirrors using spacewalk command "spacewalk-repo-sync" I get this message " 'Unable to load package', 'Invalid information uploaded to the server' " for 38 packages. When I check, these 38 packages are not named correctly. For example, sync command is looking for

Locked version repos
Hello Everyone I'm looking into the best way to have locked version repos for my CentOS systems. The systems are all set up with Chef and have a couple different recopies/roles. I'd like to have locked version repos for each role with tested RPMs. Then perhaps quarterly apply any updates. It would be nice to have something showing which updates are available for these locked repos.

Revert Spacewalk document
Dear all, HugoDoria's last two edits on the Spacewalk page (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/PackageManagement/Spacewalk) have removed line feeds from all preformatted text, as well as pointed to some RHEL6 packages on a page written for CentOS 5. I propose that the page be reverted backed to revision 82. Regards, Timothy

Satellite sync (spacewalk) of configuration channels?
Hello all. I have inter-Satellite sync set up and working on two Satellite servers downstream from a development Satellite server. Channels sync up fine, but I would like to sync up system groups and configuration channel content as well. Any ideas? Thanks, Chris
