Independent dual monitors on CentOS 7
Does anyone have the magic incantation required to getting *independent* multi-monitors going under CentOS 7? Ideally under xfce or trinity, but I'm interested about GNOME/KDE observations as well. I'm trying to move my main workstation from CentOS5 to CentOS7 and while the spanned desktop works, not having independent monitors really cuts into my productivity. i.e.: I couldn't

XScreenSaver
Hi, I'm currently moving all our local school's desktop clients from Slackware 14.1 to CentOS 7 + Xfce. Right now I'm fine-tuning the default user profile. I have a problem with XScreenSaver. The application per se works very well. Only there's a hard-coded pop-up window that reminds the user that he's not running the latest version. So, if I'm running version 5.36 as

C7: How to configure raid at install time
Hi all! I'm still on C6. I'm using a RAID1 configuration (Linux software RAID) and I'd like to either use the same one, or possibly configure it on new drives (larger) when I upgrade to C7. (I'm really feeling the need to move off C6.) But it isn't at all obvious how one would do a new RAID1 setup in Anaconda, and I don't find any user reports or other info on this in the

Back to Xfce
Now that the basic server is up and running.? With Gnome via VNC (yuck), it is time to go back and figure out howto install Xfce without an Xfce group script.? So I am asking those with X64 Centos for some pointers.? Like where are the group scripts so maybe I can modify them for armhfp. I was reading: https://www.rootusers.com/how-to-install-xfce-gui-in-centos-7-linux/ Where the author

C7 Xfce group
I am working with Centos-arm which right now only has the gnome and kde desktops. I am spoiled with using Xfce on all my Fedora systems (MUCH longer battery life on my notebook, for example).? I like its simplicity. I see from messages here that mainline C7 does have the Xfce desktop. Can someone give me a list of rpms that make up the group, so I can try starting with the minimal image and

I had to make a minimal install and now Im installing some packages I need. I decided to use xfce as desktop, but after install, I cant find a way to set is as preferred desktop environment. I try switchdesk xfce, but it says xfce is not installed. How can I set it? -- Roger D. Vargas http://dsgp.blogspot.com | Linux, programaci?n, juegos ______________________________________________

Installing xfce on CentOS 5.3?
I would like to install xfce from the "extras" repo - but when I run: yum groupinstall XFCE-4.4 I get: Warning: Group XFCE-4.4 does not exist. Also 'yum grouplist' appears to only show the base groups ... Is there anything else I have to do to install xfce? Thanks James Pearson

xfce in CentOS 5.1 "extras" repository
Hi, I am using CentOS 5.1 x86 (upgraded from 5.0), and am still using XFCE 4.4.1 from 5.0 "extras" repository. Just saw in XFCE site that they released 4.4.2. Any chance to see it in 5.1 "extras" repository?

CentOS 7 and xfce
I finally have got around to installing centos 7 and usually do a pretty minimal installation, I chose the virtualization host, since that will be the primary purpose. However I have hit a snag, I usually install xfce from epel and go along my way but there appears to be a bug in the xfce package: Error: Package: xfdesktop-4.10.2-2.el7.x86_64 (epel) Requires: desktop-backgrounds-basic

XFCE-4.4, Samba shares, Beryl
Hi, I have CentOS 5 with the XFCE-4.4 window manager installed. (BTW, I've tried many XFCE-centered distros before, and CentOS offers by far the cleanest implementation). Two questions for that. 1) I've seen various HOWTO's about how to display Samba shares with the Thunar file manager. Did anyone manage to do this with CentOS? 2) Is there some HOWTO about configuring that nice
