Advice on CentOS 7, software raid 1, lvm, 3 TB disks
Greetings - I am preparing to order a new desktop system for work. In general the new system will be a Dell Precision T3610 with two 3 TB drives. I plan on installing CentOS 7 as a KVM host, with virtual machines for Win 7 Pro and Linux Mint. I am looking for some advice or a good how-to on configuring software raid on the two drives, then using LVM for the host and virtual machines. I

syslinux EFI?
Hello, I have the following environment - ISC dhcp + Syslinux. Any chance to get it working for EUFI clients? I need to be able boot both BIOS and UEFI clients. I know that alpha version of syslinix should have EFI support but didn't found how to get this working. Thanks.

Software does not boot in Secure Boot
The matter of EUFI?s Secure Boot vs Legacy Boot has been briefly discussed a couple of days ago. I would ask the List opinion concerning our case. A bit of the history. We?ve been in the research of malicious hypervisor threat since 2013. We finally developed publicly available HyperCatcher freeware. It runs on specially built Ubuntu 14.4. We tried CentOS 6/7 as well. The OS was compiled to

Renaming virtio devices names on CentOS 8 VM guest
Thanks Robert, I was doing that but it was still renaming to ens*. However, I now know why, and have fixed it. For those who are interested, the problem was that when I created the base image from a kickstart I didn't pass net.ifnames=0 to virt-create, and I ended up with an image that had forgotten about eth0 completely. I have now redone the kickstart with net.ifnames=0 and all is well.

fixing debian's hd-media image
Here are some comments and questions for you. > I want to eufi boot this image: > http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-amd64/current/images/hd-media/boot.img.gz I am going to assume that by "boot this image" you don't mean something like memdisk or equivalent, but rather that you want to transfer that image using "dd" to your

fixing debian's hd-media image
I want to eufi boot this image: http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-amd64/current/images/hd-media/boot.img.gz there is a bug against it: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=913523 I'd like to fix the resulting usb stick for my use, and also fix it in a way that can be used to fix the upstream bug. I'm trying to follow the guids

Very large (~1.12 TB) filesystems and wasted space.
Hello, I'm not much of a pro when it comes to managing large filesystems in Linux, and I'm not sure if this is entirely on topic, but I felt that you folks would know best. I have a 3Ware 7810 card with 8 160 GB drives attached to it set up as a large RAID5. I fdisked out one large partition and simply mkfsed the drive with that ext3 filesystem, no other tweaking. I'm accessing

Patch proposition to implement a new workaround: tb-lsub-flags
Hi again Timo, As agreed earlier tonight, you'll find as attachments 4 diffs (diff -u) implementing the new workaround "tb-lsub-flags". The 4 impacted files are: ./src/imap/imap-settings.h ./src/imap/imap-settings.c ./src/imap/cmd-list.c ./src/config/all-settings.c Here is the proposed description for the dovecot.conf file: # tb-lsub-flags: # Usually IMAP servers don't

tb-negative-fetch workaround
Hi, I notice in the Changelog that the tb-negative-fetch workaround shouldn't be needed any longer. We have a user running Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 that is experiencing the same problem described in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=263904 The current command did not succeed. the mail server responded: error in imap command uid: invalid body[..] parameter. Also - is there a reliable way for TB to know it is connecting to a dovecot server?
This would be so it could auto-disable GLODA - its new 'Global Search and Indexing' scheme - for that account - assuming they accept (and implement) my bug request to be able to do that: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=544100

FYI: TB 2.0.0 + DC 1.0.0 = OK so far
Just a status note - my beta group is upgrading/upgraded to the new Thunderbird 2.0.0 (OS X & Win32 so far, Linux to come) and beating it up against Dovecot 1.0.0 and all is A-OK, nary a problem in sight. Obviously just an initial status report, but good mojo so far for those curious about trying it. -te -- Troy Engel | Systems Engineer Fluid, Inc | http://www.fluid.com

CentOS 4 and multi TB storage solutions
Hi, I am currently searching for storage solutions to use in an environment with two CentOS servers. Both are web/MySQL servers hosting several web applications that forward HTTP requests for files to storage servers (all with 3ware cards offering RAID5 arrays) that collectively serve 10TB of images. The data grows by 2TB every year. This has been working so far but this current implementation
