Install without LVM -
How do I install from the centos 6.5 dvd without LVM? Nothing I have
tried will permit me to make my own layout unless I accept LVM.

Centos DVD -
I have been trying to run Centos 6 and 7
in virtualbox on this Fedora23 computer.
Actually I also tried Scientific Linux
and a DVD copy of Fedora 21 XFCE Live
that I had on hand. The Fedora21 works
as expected but I seem to be missing
something in Centos and Scientific
Linux. They boot and run with a text
screen but startx reports "command not
found" and a ping to other than

Need yumex in centos 6.4 -
I've just installed centos 6.4 from a live spin I had but can't get it
to install yumex or xfce for that matter.
What is the secret? Or can it not be done ...

Yumex in 6.5 minimal -
When I start yumex as user it displays but stops with an error message
that the backend is not running.
However "yumex --root" starts and runs normally.
It is Centos 6.5 64 bit and using XFCE running in virtualbox if that
matters.
Any suggestion as to what I am missing?

submitting a bugreport
Could anyone please submit a bugreport for me, as I'm not sure if I can do it myself :)
The problem is that in a Windows application running in Wine the date and time displayed as digit like 39591.6425810185 instead of May-23-2008, 15:25, see pictures http://rx9tx.qrz.ru/wine.jpg and http://rx9tx.qrz.ru/windows.jpg. centos 4.4 dns problem -
I've just installed Centos 4.4 on a computer, replacing FC6, and the
first thing I find is that DNS does not work no matter what I have in
/etc/resolv.conf. It should at least work with my ISP's assigned server
but doesn't. Numerical URL's work via the browser and ping. Is there
something else I need to attend to?
I hope this is the right list for such questions.
Thanks.

No Package Manager? (Where's YumEx)
Hi List,
This morning while setting up C6 on my laptop this morning I attempted
to download and install Yumex, but the repos returned no results for
this package. Has this been discontinued and if so, what package manager
should I be looking for?
thanks,

Yumex
In case anybody is interested, I found a version of Yumex that will
work with CentOS 4.2. It is from another RHEL clone, Scientific Linux.
This is the URL.

Yumex, yum-utils
I saw the link someone posted to SL (Scientific Linux) yumex rpm's. I
grabbed the SRPMS, changed some references from SL to CentOS in the
spec files and rebuilt the RPMS. I managed to get yumex up and
running by manually configuring yumex.conf.
What is the use of the yum-utils and the dozen or so utilities? Are
there any docs? (Bearing in mind my hack may have damaged the SL
installation)

yumex 'crashed' - anyway to resume?
I spent quite a bit of time setting up what I wanted to update and
install via yumex.
I left my system for a few minutes to attend to another computer.
A helpful family member logged me off without checking.
So can I recapture what I had queued? I cannot find anything that looks
like a yumex queue file.
yum.log does not have any updates from today....

Prepping for system wipe & reload
Here's the checklist I have so far:
1 - /home partition - separate drive
2 - Files copied to the second drive:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
rpm for RPM forge
/etc/yum - entire folder
/etc/yum/repos.d - entire folder
/etc/yum.conf
/etc/yumex.conf
/etc/yumex.profiles.conf
3 - Files installed via Yum(ex) - Hmmm, need to figure this one out. Any
pointers?
