centos wiki strangeness.
In preparing to answer a question about some yum undesired behavior, I wanted to reference fastest mirror info, but when I went to https://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/FastestMirror I find all the text has been squished to the right hand side of the page and made 1 word wide all the way down. The https://wiki.centos.org/FrontPage looks similar but perhaps it is a little better? Or is

Open file > 64 K in COM32
Hi all, I used syslinux to load linux on DiskOnChip in PC104 for one embbeded project suceefully for several months. But due to power lost sometime the image is corrupted. I want to develop a COM32 util to check CRC for the images and load the good ones. I read in the comboot.doc that com32 can use read file SYSLINUX API call to read a file, and the file must below 64K limit. But the image files

Can not use read file SYSLINUX API call
Hi Peter Anvin I tried to use open file and read file SYSLINUX API. But it always make my PC104 freeze. My snip code : ================================================ int __start(void) { int ax,cx,dx,es,si,di,t; com32sys_t inreg,outreg; memset(&inreg, 0, sizeof inreg); memset(&outreg, 0, sizeof outreg); strcopy(__com32.cs_bounce, "test.txt"); inreg.eax.w[0] = 0x0006; //

Developing the UPS side of the UPS-NUT equation (via usbhid)
Tim, The UPS will be a PC104 device (www.rtd.com to give you a quick visual of what that is), which means it will actually be physically stacked together with the power supply it is supporting. So cable length won't be an issue, as it will be communicating through USB in the PCIe bus to the CPU. Rob -----Original Message----- From: Nut-upsdev [mailto:nut-upsdev-bounces+rgroner=rtd.com at

CESA-2013:0898 & CEBA-2013:0902, centos 5.9 repodata not pushed?
Johnny (& other CentOS folks), Am I being fooled by some proxies between me and centos (and all the centos mirrors, which what I normally use), or has the repodata for CentOS 5.9 updates not been updated since 03-Jun-2013 12:08? I was under the impression that the repodata on the main centos servers was updated about the same time as any CentOS-announce message going out, unless I also see a

USB install annoyances (not OT)[SOLVED]
Yet another denial - it's as though it's also blocking me based on the relationship of included text vs. new text. blah, blah, blah. Let's see if this is enough new text to get through. How can rpm "%{SUMMARY}" not be consistent?
I have been seeing something for quite some time which has confused me considerably for over a year, perhaps one of you can help me understand. Assumed: rpm queries are against _a_ database. Assumed: database queries against the same database, without changes to the data in the database, will return the same data. Confusion: then why are some of the summaries reported by rpm different? Each day

TeX Live on CentOS 7
Hi, I just installed the OpenVAS vulnerability scanner on my CentOS 7 workstation. Everything seems to work fine, except PDF generation. The 'openvas-check-setup' script tells me that PDF generation works fine, but whenever I want to generate a report, the result is unusable and can't open in Evince or Okular. After googling a bit, I found out that several users complained that Tex

Developing the UPS side of the UPS-NUT equation (via usbhid)
Rob - Just out of curiosity, will this device also have any network monitoring connectivity, or just USB? Not sure what market you are targeting, but even as a small business/home compute user, I find that the distance limitations of USB often cause me grief, and myself, I would love to see a network alternative as well . . . Perhaps support for a network dongle on the USB port? More

UPS issues with PFC PSU
Just noticed that our new server has a newer 80+ efficiency 865W PSU with PFC. So apparenty our existing 1500VA (865W) APC Back-UPS is not safe to use anymore. We apparently need a pure sine wave UPS. http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8883 I found an affordable 1500VA UPS by CyberPower, model CP1500PFCLCD, which has a pure sine wave output. Wondering if anyone has experience with

USB Serial Ports
We have several CentOS 6 systems that are used in various configurations of test equipment.? One of the primary functions of these systems is the connectivity to serial ports of some operational systems that have serial port control requirements.? Lack of interface bus slots led us to the use of USB connected serial ports on these CentOS 6 systems. We first used these USB connected serial ports
