system-config-network-tui not part of base install... wtf
Who was the genius that decided that system-config-network-tui should
NOT be part of the base CentOS 6.3 install ??
Not to mention it has insane deps like wifi firmware packages... not
really if all you want to do is configure eth0 from the command
line...

Kickstart Network Configuration Issues
Hello all,
I've been struggling with an issue with my kickstart configuration for a while now. My kickstart files are stored within the initrd image. What I would like to do here, is when the kickstart first starts up, I want it to grab a DHCP address (it does at the moment) so it can grab all of the necessary installation data off the net. Then, at some point _IN_ the install process, I'd

problems with kickstart %post and python/snack gui
Hi All,
I'm trying to migrate from Fedora Core 4 to a more stable linux deployment
of Centos 4.3. I'm using kickstart to do an automated installation of
minimal packages and then doing configuration in the %post section. I do
this by calling serveral custom system-config-local-* scripts that I have
written along with system-config-network-tui (aka netconfig).
The problem that I am

system-config-date-tui ??
Remote box keeps reverting the localtime to Eastern (America/New_York).
cd /etc
rm localtime && ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/UTC localtime
fixes it - but it seems to revert from time to time, I presume from yum
updates (or possibly an init script ??)
In /etc/sysconfig there is a config file for it. I'd rather not manually
edit it, it looks simple enough, but I'd rather use the

minimal installation - kickstart error
Hi
I have inherited some kickstarts that attempt to remove some packages
that at some point its been deemed they are not required.
I am migrating all this over to cobbler but trying to get to the bottom
of this error that although the kickstart completes sshd cant start as
the package nss is not installed.
It fails with this

CentOS 6.5 equivalents in CentOS 7
I tried to install CentOS 7 on a new system. It works.
However, I'm noticing small things:
1. system-config-network-tui is not installed and yum cannot find it. I
realized for this -- nmtui
What about firewall? I can't seem to understand the replacement from
system-config-firewall-tui

Packages installation in CentOs
Hi,
I have a customized CentOS 5.5 kernel. I want it to upgrade it to CentOS 7.
The approach I have decided was to take the CentOS 7 and then install the
customized packages that are there in the CentOS 5.5.
While trying to install the customized packages, I could install most of
the packages, but I couldn't install the below in the latest CentOS 7.
1. rhpl
2. mod_perl

I noticed that virt-manager-tui is in rawhide finally, but the package
name implies that it's not going to be in f16?

Cole, is this intentional or just smth that we need to follow up on?
Also, I've noticed that ovirt-node needs refreshing... iirc apevec did

Open extra ports on firewall?
Hi,
I'm using the preconfigured firewall that comes with CentOS 5. I
configure it with system-config-securitylevel-tui, close all ports
except SSH, and then open only the ones I need.
Right now, on one of my desktops, I've installed AMSN, which requires
opening a series of ports. I've configured the app to use ports 7000 to
7010 (TCP and UDP). When running

NFS problem
I'm trying to NFS-mount a CentOS directory on my Fedora laptop,
but I find I can only do this is I turn off the firewall
on the CentOS server.
If instead I go to system-config-securitylevel-tui on the server,
and allow NFS4, this does not do the trick.
Nor does allowing port 2049.
What do I need to allow?
[I should say that the CentOS server is remote,

Print share using hpoj.
Hello all.
The set up: - Kernel 2.4.18-3
- HP Office Jet K80.

- hpoj-0.8 driver
I've been struggling installing and configuring the new driver for Linux/USB printing, due to a couple of silly mistakes.
The question here is are there any differences in setting up a print server using this new driver than the usual

Removing dependent packages is required. Removing unused dependencies is optional.
dnf remove *subscription* --noautoremove
should remove the dependent packages but keep thee unused dependencies if you want them.
There's also a setting in /etc/dnf/dnf.conf to set the default behaviour of the autoremove

CentOS 7.6 kickstart error
I am testing a CentOS 7.6 kickstart installation. After kickstart was initiated,
the installation stops at some point where a sort of table is printed under
"Installation", and the item that fails is 4 - Software selection, Error
checking software selection.
I have checked /tmp/packaging.log and /tmp/anaconda.log, but cannot find any
errors here that would prevent installation.

Listers,
I encountered a problem with samba (2.2.7a) when I was setting CUPS (1.1.14)
up.
I set it up through the web interface, setting the appropriate values in
smb.conf:

printing = cups
load printers = yes
printcap name = cups
[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba

System->Administation->Network
I found quite a bit on google about the problem that "Network" does not
show up under the System->Administration menu any more. All the
solutions seem to indicate that I just need to install
system-config-network-tui, but that doesn't change anything.
I've turn off Network Manager before trying to do any of this because I
want to configure my network offline.

blocking outgoing ports with iptables
Hi,
I'm using the generic system-config-securitylevel-tui program on a
remote server to configure my firewall. So far it's been fairly decent,
allowing me to open up ports and whatnot. But I want to start blocking
a couple of outgoing ports on my machine. I want to lock it down so the
only traffic going in our out of my machine is stuff that I specify.
Is there a way to do this
