Create Slide Shows (PowerPoint/KeyNote-Style) Using Markdown using the Slide Show (S9) Ruby Gem
Hello, I've published a Ruby gem that lets you create slide shows and author slides in plain text using a wiki-style markup language that's easy-to-write and easy-to-read. Yes, that's Markdown. (Textile is supported too ;-) You can find two samples online in Markdown: o http://slideshow.rubyforge.org/svn/samples/rest.text o

Announcing SoapBX.com a new Rails App for making presentations
I got an idea less than two weeks ago and now as a testament to the power of Rails I have released the first initial beta version of SoapBx, with less than 20 hours of programming involved so far. SoapBX is an application to create css based presentations and uses Erik Meyer''s cool S5 css and js code: http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/tools/s5/ With SoapBX you can use basic Textile and a

Effect.Slideshow and Ajax.Slideshow
Ok, I''m almost done programming this, although I still have to test the ajax version. Anyway, I thought I''d pass along the documentation to y''all, so you can look it over and see if there''s anything missing, or anything I should change. There''s a lot to read here, so if you aren''t interested, quit now :) Effect.Slideshow: Syntax: new

Eric Meyer about frameworks (Rails, too)
Hi, for those of you who haven''t read: http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2006/05/08/flummoxed-by-frameworks/ ""Oh", they gush, "you should absolutely try Ruby on Rails! It''s so easy! It''s almost like writing regular English!" Which means they''re clearly on crack, because Ruby on Rails is so very different from a human-written language

anyone interested in an Effect.Slideshow?
I had to make a sort of slideshow for a site I''m working on, and I was thinking of making it into a Scriptaculous object. Anyone think of reasons why I shouldn''t? You''d have to pass in all the image urls and a div id, with an optional delay parameter to determine how long to leave each image up before moving on. I could also have a ''randomize''

sata centos 4.2
I have one SATA drive with windows xp installed. I added a second SATA drive to install CentOS on. During the install, both drives are listed. If I use the auto-partition feature and deselect the drive with windows on it, only selecting the new drive, I get an error message that it could not create the partitions. The same thing happened a few months ago and I manually setup to partitions.

Slideshow/presentation software for CentOS
I am looking for software to make slideshows/presentations on CentOS, incorporating photos, videos and text (possibly also music) allowing for transition effects etc. I'd like to be able to drag and drop/rearrange photos etc. from different folders into a timeline and eventually end up with something I can show. Ideally without having to make copies of photos and store them in a folder

Leading blank lines in codeblocks ignored?
(In the following I write <tab> because my MUA strips tabs) Consider the code: ---- Paragraph <tab> <tab> Line <tab> ---- or even: ---- Paragraph <tab><space> <tab> Line <tab> ---- Markdown.pl ignores the leading blank line in the code block. Is this intended behaviour? -- Andrea Censi "Life is too important to be taken

Slide Show (S9) Gem V0.7 - Better Support for More Markdown (Ruby) Libs and More
Hello, == What's new in 0.7? I removed the dependency on Maruku (and Oniguruma) and now allow and check for optional installed Markdown libraries/gems. For now the search order for markdown libraries is first come, first serve, that is: rdiscount > rpeg-markdown > maruku > bluecloth (fallback, always present because it's required in gem spec). If you want to use

Difficulties in interaction between R and latex (prosper)
Hello, folks! I'm trying to use R as a graphics program, to make some pretty graphs that will go into prosper slideshows. I wrote this fragment, from the R manual, into a file demo.R: x=seq(-3,3,0.1) postscript("cm_test.eps", width = 4.0, height = 3.0, horizontal = FALSE, onefile = FALSE, paper = "special", family =

Doubt about standard syntax
I have a doubt about the standard syntax (actually, it's the only test that maruku doesn't pass yet). Lists MUST be preceded by an empty line? So the following are only 4 paragraphs, without list items, right? ----------- Paragraph and no space: * ciao Paragraph and 1 space: * ciao Paragraph and 3 spaces: * ciao Paragraph and 4 spaces: * ciao ----------- In other words, a

Powerpoint 2007 not advancing slides
Hi Everyone Samba 3.6.7 on OpenSuse 12.2 x86_64 I have an unusual problem for which I have not been able to find a solution on the Internet. With Powerpoint 2003, there was no issue. With Powerpoint 2007, the user cannot advance slides unless the file is saved locally on the client (Windows XP SP3, ntfs filesystem). When the file is loaded from the samba share, the user can edit and save

Maruku: a better Markdown interpreter for Ruby.
Hello to all! Maruku is a Markdown interpreter written in Ruby. It is released under the GPL. Maruku implements the original Markdown syntax and all the improvements in PHP Markdown Extra. Moreover, it implements some ideas from MultiMarkdown, and adds a syntax for specifying metadata for block elements. Unlike Bluecloth, Maruku creates an in-memory representation of the document tree, and this

Revised 2005 proposal for meta-data
Hello to all! This is the revised 2005 proposal for meta-data, much more in detail: http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.md http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.html http://maruku.rubyforge.org/proposal.pdf I wait for comments. At the end of the document, there are some open issues. And I need a regexp wizard to look over the "grammar" section. Cheers, -- Andrea Censi
