How to include an external file with Markdown?
I'm building a website that has a common header across lots of pages and I
want to source in that header. How do I do this with markdown?

Markdown and Wikis
I would like to have a wiki that uses Markdown as the markup
language (or something very close), I've currently used PmWiki
and I really like it but there are some problems with using
Markdown so I'm interested to see if there is an alternative
that works better for me.
I've looked at wiki matrix and searched for and found the
following list

Importing Markdown posts to WordPress
I apologize for being off-topic, but I think there's more expertise on
this list than I'll find elsewhere.
I'm thinking about moving my blog from Movable Type 3.2 to WordPress.
As a test, I've set up a local WP installation and imported my old
posts--all of which are written in Markdown. They look awful,
primarily because the blocks of source code in many of my posts are

ogg player for mac
Hi:
Seems to me that Whamb! needs to be listed on the vorbis.com software page
for MacOSX. This seems to be the best player out there for the mac
(acording to what I've read here and on other lists) and it's not listed
there (or at least it wasn't about 12 hours ago).

LSUB "" "" vs LIST "" "" (hacked Apple Mail problem)
The LSUB command does not act like LIST when provided with an empty
mask argument. LIST responds with the hierarchy delimiter:
* LIST (\Noselect) "." ""
OK List completed.
whereas LSUB doesn't return anything useful:
OK Lsub completed.
RFC 3501 doesn't specify what LSUB should do in this case, but
Courier IMAP has LSUB act like LIST. The attached patch

Maruku: a better Markdown interpreter for Ruby.
Hello to all!
Maruku is a Markdown interpreter written in Ruby. It is released under the GPL.
Maruku implements the original Markdown syntax and all the
improvements in PHP Markdown Extra. Moreover, it implements some ideas
from MultiMarkdown, and adds a syntax for specifying metadata for
block elements.
Unlike Bluecloth, Maruku creates an in-memory representation of the
document tree, and this

samba 4.8.0 Time Machine crashes on Mac
Hello,
I've encountered recurring issue with samba crashes when creating initial
Time Machine backup on samba share from Mac. Whole scenario, details about
software and logs are below.
On Mac client: connected to smb share with "valid user" account; added smb
share as Time Machine disk.
Time machine has been set for automatic backup, I've selected Back Up Now.

Memory/data -last time I promise
I've seen several posts over the past 2-3 weeks about memory issues. I've
tried to carefully follow the suggestions, but remain baffled as to why I
can't load data into R. I hope that in revisiting this issue that I don't
exasperate the list.
The setting:
1 gig RAM , Linux machine
10 Stata files of approximately 14megs each
File contents appear at the end of this boorishly long

Ogg Support For iTunes
Hi,
From slashdot.org :
"Mac OS X Hints has a story about a plugin for QuickTime and iTunes that
enables the user to play all of those Ogg Vorbis files that you have
sitting on your hard drive, but can't play because of lack of support from
Apple."

Mac markdown editor that saves as .txt
Hi all,
I'm a newer user of markdown & MultiMarkdown, and I'm looking for the
perfect setup of software for my Mac and my Android phone. I'd like to
have my drafts editable from both.
What I want is an attractive Mac app for writing (primarily blog posts and
emails) that saves its files as .txt . Most of them save as .md or
.markdown instead, and since there doesn't seem to

I am writing "HOW-TO install and integrate ssh on Mac OS X" ... (Where can I publish it?)
Hello.
I am currently writing a HOW TO install a custom compiled OpenSSH on
Mac OS X.2 and X.3 (Jaguar) and (Panther) and how to make this service
controllable in "System Preferences" without breaking Apple's original
OpenSSH implementation.
Can I publish this (for free) somewhere on the net? Maybe OpenSSH.org
itself is interested?
Thank you for an address or link to get into

osx permission issue
what makes you believe that ssh is accessing the files ?
ok, rsync on remote mac is being spawned by sshd, so i gave full disk
access to the sshd binary , too (as it may inherit restrictions to sub
processes) and restarted ssh service ,
but unfortunately it makes no difference.
did you mean that or something different ?

OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows clients still work perfectly - my users can mount the samba shares and create, rename, move etc files and folders.
However, recently (starting yesterday) my OS X clients are unable to rename any sub
