trying to chainload the normal ubuntu pxe installer
Hi syslinux experts, So, I have a pxe boot tree that looks something like this: /menu.cfg /linux /ubuntu /amd64 /meerkat (contains a mirror of the netboot ubuntu image) If I set the following in the appropriate stanza of my dhcpd.conf (for isc dhcpd v3), I can boot the ubuntu installer: filename "linux/ubuntu/amd64/meerkat/pxelinux.0"; next-server <tftp_server_ip>; I would

running a script repeatedly
Dear Debian People: Is there a way to run a little script (on Ubuntu Manic Meerkat) every hour, please? I know that this is more of a LINUX/UNIX question rather than an R question. Sorry. Secret of Monkey Island SE, steam on wine, crashes on start
I'm wondering if anyone can help me? I'm trying to run Secret of Monkey Island special edition in Steam on wine with Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat. I can install steam and use it to install the game (after it installs directx), apparently with no problems, but when I try to run the game, a window opens saying "Preparing to launch The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition". Unity 3D Ubuntu
Installed unity perfectly, no error whatsoever, although when i run it, whatever path i put in it to create a new project in, it says "Specified path is not valid(should be a name of non existing or empty directory). I also tested using Unity Loader, and it shows the splashscreen until it crashes Ubuntu. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, Maverick Meerkat. I can run it fine on Windows 7, without

help a newbie please
Hi list readers, I am an experienced developer with only nominal configuration talent. These days, mostly I use ubuntu linux, but have used Debian, WhiteBox, CentOS, RH, Fedora. I have been using Sun VirtualBox to very great effect and hope for better performance by installing and using xen. I also intend to use Dom0 exclusively as a host, and not install any other packages. Instead, I expect to

Machine learning teaching for Data Science Retreat
Hi all, We are preparing for a future batch, and we may be shorthanded for teaching. R is our programming language of choice. Data Science Retreat (DSR: http://datascienceretreat.com) sits at Microsoft Ventures offices in Berlin Mitte. We have chief-data-scientist mentors and a pretty exhaustive program on machine learning + data science. You can check it out here:

libtheora-1.0alpha7 release
All, I've done a new alpha release of the libtheora reference implementation. This is mostly build fixes from the alpha6 release; I'd failed to enable the new MMX asm by default, and the x86 asm code did a relocation that caused problems on SELinux. You can get it in the usual place: http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/theora/libtheora-1.0alpha7.tar.bz2

building libtheora 1.0 on win64
I have an old conferencing app that uses theora and I'm building it for win64. libthora 1.1 builds just fine, but libtheora 1.0 has errors related to assembly code when building for x64. I've tried using 1.1, but the video does not look right -- the clients all generate their own first 3 packets instead of sending them over the network since they assume they are all on the same version

Binaries for Visual Studio.NET?
I apologize for what's surely a common question, but the Xiph archive-searcher seems broken, and all my other searches have come up dry. Anyway, my question is: Are there any Theora binaries available for Visual Studio.NET? Alternatively, how do I build Theora using Visual Studio.NET? I tried using "\win32\theora_static.dsp", but VS.NET claimed it was corrupt and couldn't

[LLVMdev] Does loop vectorizer inquire about target's SIMD capabilities?
Nadav (or anyone who is familiar with the loop vectorizer), Does the current loop vectorizer inquire about the SIMD capabilities of the target architecture when it decides whether it is profitable to vectorize a loop? I am asking this because I would like to have loop vectorization disabled for targets that don't support SIMD instructions (for example, standard mips32). Loop vectorization

libtheora 1.1 (Thusnelda) stable release
We are pleased to announce a new stable release of libtheora, the Xiph.org Foundation's reference implementation of the royalty-free Theora video format. This new release, version 1.1, codenamed Thusnelda, incorporates all of the recent encoder improvements we have been making over the past year, though some of the code had its genesis all the way back in 2003. It also brings substantial speed
