subsetting data-frame by vector of characters
Hi, I have a very simple problem but I can't think how to solve it without using a for loop and creating a large logical vector. However given the nature of the problem I am sure there is a "1-liner" that could do the same thing much more efficiently. bascially I have a dataframe with characters in, eg >names.and.numbers (index) Name Fave.Number 1 John 7 2

Looking for some guidance with the Asterisk 12 ARI/API
Hi - I figured this was probably the best place to ask this question Is there anyone that has done anything practical with the API and/or Real Time Database config? If so, I would like to pick your brains if I may. Thanks - G -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Asterisk API
Hello Folks; I have an Asterisk server Asterisk 11.7.0 built by root @xxxxxxxxxxx on a x86_64 running Linux on 2013-12-27 18:47:44 UTC No FreePBX, no AsteriskNOW, no Elastix. Just Asterisk. Is there an API out there that anyone knows of that I can pass commands, etc to Asterisk? Creating Extensions, adding voicemail users, setting up voicemail, etc? I'm kind of clueless. Is there something

The problem is not icecast streaming, its trying to stream through a browser. It is very complicated to do. Each browser has it quirks depending on OS, version and what other audio programs that are installed. Having the external player link should resolve the issues. We gotten from using a browser player to letting the customer choose there fave audio player to use :) Even this has cause

prevent duplicate inserts with has_many :through ??
Does anyone have an efficient/elegant way to prevent duplicate inserts when using a has_many :through relationship. So I have something like this: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :favorite_teams has_many :teams, :through => :favorite_teams end class FavoriteTeams < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :team end class Teams < ActiveRecord::Base has_many

Switching from FreeBSD to Linux - which distro?
Does there seem to be a popular Linux distro folks use specifically for Asterisk? I'd like to move off of FreeBSD but I'm not too familiar with Linux distros. In particular, I'm looking for a free, stable, well supported distro that has a friendly community. Any advice appreciated. Sorry for asking a question that I'm sure has been asked thousands of times. Best regards,

Gateway?
This is going to sound like a dumb-ass question: The device that allows you to bridge Asterisk (or any other PBX) into the pstn.. What is that called? So, I guess, not a SIP trunk, but the device that actually IS the SIP trunk. Am I making sense? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Asterisk 11 - looking for ideas and a possible solution
First, let me thank all of you for your input - I was looking for some sort of an API to interface with Asterisk via REST. Python, Ruby or something that we could "webify" using PHP. Some of you suggested Asterisk 12 - I love the idea, but unfortunately, we have an Asterisk 11 install. It seems, and I could be wrong, that Asterisk 12 is a whole new 'ball game' so to speak. The

Sporadic Issues
Thanks for all the feedback. We haven't found any specific reason for the reported issue, but since our site redesign our listenership has gone up significantly so we're going to stick with it until we can find a specific issue with icecast, media element, or some other component. Hi Michel, The upgrade was for the whole site including media element player. Icecast was left in place though we started using it as our primary server whereas some users would get an MMS stream for windows media server previously. I was reaching out to the icecast community because as Linux and server people, I find the best answers with these types of groups. Sorry for not being clear about

Only partial installation? Context menu items missing :-(
Hi! I am very new to Ubuntu and thus also Wine. I installed, uninstalled and re-installed Wine a couple times while trying out Wine and some third-party apps like Wine-Doors. Now my trouble is... I just installed 1.1.16, but my context menu entry for Wine is missing. Moreover, when I now select "Open with other Application" from the context menu for a Windows app, Wine is not in the

Pretty Log Output on OS X
Howdy, I am using Apple''s Terminal and Rails 1.0 on Tiger. I am tailing my log files and it seems with one of these updates things changed a little. I see all these ''ESC'' codes all over. How can I make the output prettier? I''d rather not move to iTerm, not one of my faves. Cheers.

Sporadic Issues
Hi, I help run an NPR/PBS station. We were running ice cast before our most recent upgrade. However after the upgrade we have now been receiving sporadic reports of people being unable to connect. The only confirmed issue is with Saffari on Windows. We are working on that specific one. But I've also received sporadic reports from users on chrome, firefox, mac, and windows and various other
