portable parallel seeds project: request for critiques
I've got another edition of my simulation replication framework. I'm attaching 2 R files and pasting in the readme. I would especially like to know if I'm doing anything that breaks .Random.seed or other things that R's parallel uses in the environment. In case you don't want to wrestle with attachments, the same files are online in our SVN

Example of "task seeds" with R parallel. Critique?
Greetings: In R parallel's vignette, there is a comment "It would however take only slightly more work to allocate a stream to each task." (p.6). I've written down a working example that can allocate not just one, but several separate seeds for each task. (We have just a few project here that need multiple streams). I would like to help work that up for inclusion in the

DFAPacketizer assert failure
For some reason on my VLIW target DFAPacketizer fails at assert(CachedTable.count(StateTrans) != 0); in the following function: // reserveResources - Reserve the resources occupied by a MCInstrDesc and // change the current state to reflect that change. void DFAPacketizer::reserveResources(const llvm::MCInstrDesc *MID) { unsigned InsnClass = MID->getSchedClass(); const llvm::InstrStage

FuncUnits = 0 CurrentState = 0 StateTrans = {first = 0, second = 0} I understand that there is something wrong with the state machine but I can't figure out what exactly. My

Hi Anshu, I don't have commit access. It applies correctly on trunk, I've just checked it. Could you please commit it? Problem launching Cursed mountain
Hello I installed the game "Cursed Mountain", with no problems, at the end of the installation it asked for launching the game, and the game ran successfully. Later I wanted to launch it again, but now it gets stuck after the logo intro. The terminal output is: Code: --------------------------------------------------- KTM --------------------------------------------------- Version:

Help with R invoking
Hi, I encountered a very strange error with R (2.14.1). I tried to build an R package and eventually worked (passing all the checks etc.). Then, I tried this command "R CMD INSTALL --binary pkg", which supposedly "installs and produce a binary source archive (*.zip) for use on Windows only." Nothing happened, but I could not run "R CMD check pkg" anymore. Further,

R-2.15.2 changes in computation speed. Numerical precision?
Speaking of optimization and speeding up R calculations... I mentioned last week I want to speed up calculation of generalized inverses. On Debian Wheezy with R-2.15.2, I see a huge speedup using a souped up generalized inverse algorithm published by V. N. Katsikis, D. Pappas, Fast computing of theMoore-Penrose inverse matrix, Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra, 17(2008), 637-650. I was so

Cisco 7960 XML/Configs
I ordered 10 7960's with SIP today (YAY!), I should have them on Monday! So, to be better prepared come Monday morning, I was wondering if anyone knew of any * compatible screen configs for things such as browsing VM, etc, yadda, yadda. I checked out the wiki about ADSI but from what I see, that's not really applicable in a SIP setup? I'm guessing it's going to be a more XML

State of IceCast2?
Hi - I'm currently researching possible implementations of a streaming Ogg server for use with DarkIce to reencode live radio traffic for streaming simulcast. DarkIce claims support for IceCast2, which supports streaming Ogg-vorbis media. The only sticking point I'm running into -- it's been damned near impossible to find anything more than mere scraps of information about the state

Debian packaging and openblas related crash when profiling in R
Hello R-sig-debian and (hopefully) Dirk: On Debian wheezy, I have the R packaging that CRAN (you) provide. I run into a little trouble while trying to fiddle with alternative BLAS. I know you and I went around on this last year and I think perhaps I've found something wrong in the framework, or I've just done something wrong. I installed the packages openblas-base and openblas-dev, and

samba/AD expert? for pay?
Howdy. What's a good way to locate a Samba/Active Directory expert (for pay)? I just don't have time to read every HOWTO I can find, and the many hours I've spent trying to apply the scraps of things I've read have been nearly fruitless. I will provide a list of goals, and assuming the expert agrees all goals are achievable, I (my company) would gladly pay for that expert to

Compiling WMIC/Accessing WMI
Background: As of Windows 10 version 2004, the wmic client no longer works. It gets the following error - [wmi/wmic.c:196:main()] ERROR: Login to remote object. NTSTATUS: NT code 0x80010111 - NT code 0x80010111 This seems to be an RPC header error. Presumably Microsoft changed something that broke wmic. Since I found wmic.c in the samba source I thought that it might be able to be compiled as

putting circles/buffers arround points on a 2D graph/plot
Hi, I'll try to keep my question brief and to the point, to anyone who helps 'THANK YOU!' I want to get a circle/ring/buffer or some other form of drawn line around certain points on a x,y plot, the points usually don't form a circle, often they form a 'wobbly' shape, so ideally I'd like something that follows the shape the points make. I'll start by explaining

Progress report on 64-bit builds under Windows
We have been asked for a couple of years about builds of R for 64-bit Windows, e.g. at UserR 2006. Users of 64-bit Windows still seem very thin on the ground, but apparently 'Microsoft scraps 32-bit operating systems Microsoft has announced that Windows Server 2008 will be the last 32-bit system it releases, for servers or clients, as it makes its way fully into the world of

shade overlapping portions of circles (or other shapes)
I'm making some illustrations and it would be convenient to automatically shade the overlapping portions of circles. These illustrations are for Social Choice theory, a field in political science and economics. I've wrestled together some examples so you can see what I mean, but have not mastered the "color overlapping sections" problem (as you will see):
