samba4wins nbd_server implementation & configuration
Hi,
Confused and bewildered as usual, so ask the guys who know.
samba4wins is now implemented and part of the samba4 package?
Is there a configuration guide?
I guess nbd_server needs to be part of the equation so could you point to some resources on setup as I don't think I have noticed anything in the wiki?
Probably just me :)
Many Thanks

phpldapadmin URI
Apols but would someone please forward some info on this.
I want to connect to samba4 and all I can seem to find are results of the now non existent configuration script.
I think you might start to find an increase on uptake and the removal might of been premature?
Make me happy anyway as confused at the moment.

4.1.7 Server Side Copies & Disk Permissions
As soon as I add the declaration for server side copies I hit problems with disk permissions.
Same as in 4.1.6 and always the same so I will not bother to add a log.
If you follow http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share
But have vfs objects = btrfs declared all is different.
You can add users and groups but the default Everyone, CREATOR GROUP and a Unknown you just can't

samba-tool OU's organisational units
I am confused as with samba-tool it does practically everything and all the default methods of M$ AD are covered.
For some reason OU's seem to be missing I know OU's are very Group policy orientated but also they are simply Organisational Units.
The ability to list, create and delete OU's seems to be omitted.
Also when you add a user the destination OU parameter is missing.
Is this

Samba 4.0.17 Available for Download
Hi Bjorn,
I don't know if there are any compile switches they provide more debugging / log options.
I guess its easy to modify the start up script so that logging is at a max.
Was just an after thought really. I just think binaries for distro's are really important and many thanks.
Stuart.
PS I never got a reply but with 4.1.6 but with vfs objects = btrfs declared in smb.conf disk

Cannot create OrganizationalUnit under ou=Users
Hi everyone,
I have a Samba 4.2.4 AD which works fine. I'm using Windows RSAT and I'm
trying to create an OU under ou=Users, but this is not allowed. I can create
OU's in the top DN, but not under ou=Users.
Could this be a permissions problem or is this simply not possible or
allowed?
Thanks a lot,
Roel

Must Samba4 AD be provisionned with rfc2307 to use winbind ?
Oh I think I must of misread what you and steve where discussing.
What is confusing me is the output of samba-tool domain level show
Forest function level: (Windows) 2003
Domain function level: (Windows) 2003
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2
I thought it might of been because rfc2307 schema included was of 2008r2 ilk.
Why does it always say the lowest function level is

Help with failing Nut slave/client connection
Hi can anyone please help.
I have two linux servers both with static IPs not using NAT.
My slave can't connect to my host. Whatever I try.
I have the same setup also on my LAN with two other machines and they talk
to each other and work great.
But my two machines with their own static IPs don't want to play. I've used
the same settings for these as I have on my LAN, with a master

DNS record info (samba-tool)
Even though you can create and delete DNS records I have been puzzling how you list records that might be in a zone?
samba-tool dns add SAMBA1.SAMBA4.LAN 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa 32 PTR SAMBA1.SAMBA4.LAN --username=administrator
say the above adds a record to 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa even if I do a zoneinfo on 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa
pszZoneName???????????????? : 1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

Help with failing Nut slave/client connection
Tough to get a spoofed IP to actually route back to it's host though, so
other than those unfortunate to be on a flat network, still not too much
of an issue . . .

Samba 4.0.17 Available for Download
Great news.
Just wondered if you guys had a good reference point for compiling for the noob?
I will have to google again to tag the version in git as my memory is generally vague.
The only things I generally get confused on is how to change the output folders so they are distro specific.
I have just been disabling apparmor and selinux but if anybody has some sample profiles it would be great.

Help with failing Nut slave/client connection
Or just set up sane firewall rules to allow the two to talk, but block external traffic. I have run this way for years - all add'rs ar IANA in a subnet block, and just that block is open locally, and all other external IP's severely restricted, and NUT works great . . .

Not enough storage space error
Now, its getting more detailed for the samba devs and more out of my scope.
But a small last question from me.
Are you moving OU's with users and are there GPO's liked to these OU's?
If yes, detach the GPO link and try moving without GPO's attached.
Still errors?
Are these users logged in or not? If still logged in, try an OU without users logged in.
