Hello all
I have two Linux boxes. The first one is samba servers for the Windows clients. The second one is backup storage. So every few hours rsnc synchronises the data directories on the second machine.

HiddenStore option may be useful
I'm missing a HiddenStore option in OpenSSH, known from some ftp-server
implementations like ProFTPd.
Consider the following scenario:
- A process PROCA is frequently polling the directory for a file called
myfile.txt
- Someone transfers this file via sftp or scp to the directory
- While transfer is going on and the file is not completely written,
PROCA reads in the file and removes is

Strange behaviour with --max-delete option
Hi,
When using --max-delete=NUM, NUM + 1 files get deleted.
Test it by doing this:
# mkdir src
# mkdir dest
# cd src
# touch 1 2 3 4 5
# cd ..
# rsync -avu src/ dest
# cd src
# rm 1 2
# cd ..
( Here i try to sync src and dest, but only delete one file from dest
at the time. This would prevent an accidental rm in src from
propagating to dest. )
# rsync --delete -avun --max-delete=1 src/ dest

Getting ''block not supplied'' with Rspec
Hi,
I am usinh RoR w/ Oracle as my DB.
For one my example in spec I get ''block not supplied error:
Here is the sample code:
Engagements::Engagement.find(:first).project_id
I tried to google but did not find any substantial result other than
http://www.nabble.com/Rspec-+-Oracle-t3756739.html where someone has faced
such an issues.
Wonder what could be the work around.
Cheers,

Sendmail error: auxpropfunc error invalid parameter supplied
I just noticed this error in my messages log after restarting sendmail.
The only change I have made is
1) manual fix in /usr/share/spamassassin/72_active.conf
2) sa-update (several times)
Now the mail is not running ok, my mail queue keeps growing.

using user-supplied derivatives in rgenoud
I have been using the rgenoud package for a nonlinear least-squares
problem with lots of local minima, and it works very well but takes lots
of time. According to the article refrenced in the documentation, the
original GENOUD-software by the same authors seems to allow for
user-supplied analytical derivatives instead of numerical approximations,
which would probably save some time. Does anybody

m4 scripts ignore user-supplied CFLAGS and LDFLAGS
Hi all,
There is a discussion going on one russian forum about NUT
cross-compiling and packaging for some custom embedded firmware.
And one of the authors complained about NUT script for checking
ssl library ignoring supplied CFLAGS and LDFLAGS with the
desired include and library paths.
I checked several scripts in m4 folder and all of them do
something like this:

Fwd: m4 scripts ignore user-supplied CFLAGS and LDFLAGS
Hi Alexander,
no, I am not responsible for this! It's true that I created the
scripts in m4/, but I only copied what was previously in configure.in.
Try:
svn up -r2 configure.in
and you'll see that the code in question has been there since the
beginning of SVN time (line 175).
I cannot say why it was done that way. Probably because nobody needed
a more general mechanism. Using

Ring Voltage Supplied by Wildcard TDM400P REV E/F & AUTO FXS/DPO
Hi;
I'm trying to connect a TDM400P with an FXS module to a Valcom V-9940
Paging adaptor. This port on the TDM400P was connected to a 2500 Set
and was working I just re-connected it to the Valcom (which is known to
work on a Telco POTS line) and its not picking up. The Valcom docs say
it need a minimum of 75 Volts at 20-30 Hz to recognize a call... So the
question is what ring voltage

Why are the arguments supplied for the command run through ssh interpreted by shell before they are passed to the command on the server side?

This didn't work for me because single quotes only prevent local
expansion. The string is expanded on the remote host.
