Chroot
Hello, I have successfully setup dovecot with chroot but there are two things yet 1. submission_host problem (I posted message 2 days ago) 2. Problem with acl's and sharing: all maildirs are located in: /var/mail/jdoe at example.com/Maildir so: mail_chroot=/var/mail I setup acls with: 10-mail.conf ... namespace { type = private separator = / prefix =. inbox = yes hidden = no

Questions about mail process chroots
Greetings, I am configuring a new Dovecot installation, and the way the valid_chroot_dirs and mail_chroot variables affect the mail processes are a bit unclear to me. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with more specific details than the comments in the configuration file do, or maybe even recommend some values given my configuration. We have a Debian GNU/Linux system and a mix of users

converting from courier questions
I currently run postfix and courier on my mail servers with squirrelmail. The problem with courier is it seems to run so slow. The webmail takes forever to load if you have many mails. I have this set up in virtual domains with all longin and path info in an mysql database. I just joined the list and DID google before asking, hope this isn't a common question. With courier it looks for a

Sieve notify variables not working with body?
Thanks, now it works. But it seems that :message string (of notify command) is limited to 255 chars. Is there any chance to change limit to 512 ? require ["body","enotify","variables","foreverypart","mime","extracttext"]; foreverypart { if header :mime :type :is "Content-Type" "text" { extracttext

New mailbox & autocreate
Hi, First of all BIG THANKS for great piece of software. I have a small problem with autocreate. My mails are stored in: /var/mail Ex. /var/mail/test at test.pl/Maildir Account information comes from DB. So when new account appears in DB full path including home dir is created. But there is one small problem: Group always is "wheel". Autocreating ignores gid from DB and uses the group

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there! Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me: I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery. postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine. The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server. It keeps sending me the same emails again and again. (The mail client (Thunderbird) is

Using mail_chroot and default_mail_env
Settings for mail_chroot and default_mail_env are not playing well together. It seems that default_mail_env is verified to exist *before* the chroot but is later used *after* the chroot. A configuration like this: * mail_chroot = /var/mail/example.com/username * default_mail_env = maildir:/Maildir Fails with the message: * stat(/Maildir) failed: No such file or directory As a

Help - I keep getting LSUB permission denied
Hi, I am using dovecot: 1.0.rc15 I was upgrading Debian and installed new versions of lots of things. My mail came fine and I though there was not problem until a user called and said it was not working through webmail. I tried, it it worked fine and I realized the problem was with dovecot. I have created new users, tried different UIDs. Removed any protections but when I telnet to the

used_file_size too large
Hi. Just got this error (1.1.rc4), is it something to worry about? Corrupted index cache file /.../Maildir/.Sent/dovecot.index.cache: used_file_size too large This is a shared mailbox with concurrent access. In general, can that usage pattern mess up the index? I am guessing "no", which is why I worry slightly about the warning. Cheers, Anders.

Upgrade from 1.0.1 -> 1.0.5 failed (rc 75)
Hi, I'm using a mixture of Exim, Dovecot and Deliver. Exim receives the mail and validates the user against our database, then pipes the e-mail to deliver which puts it in the right mailbox. We were running Exim 4.67 and Dovecot 1.0.1, and today I did an in-place upgrade to Dovecot 1.0.5 and Exim 4.68. However, now Exim is failing deliveries saying deliver returned code 75. If I

mail_chroot problems / dovecot 1.1rc4
Hello I've noticed a little strange behaviour of that option. For example with following settings: system user: admin, with its home directory as /home/admin dovecot options: as reported by dovecot -n (in attachment) dovecot will try to chroot into /home/home/admin with the following message in logs, in my case: Fatal: chdir(/home/home/admin) failed with uid 1999: No such file or

show queue's name and other info in incoming call to queue member
hello, I've callcenter and our queue members want to see on their IP phone's display queue's name , from which incoming call was originated, for example "<client's_number> -> Sales". beta8: core, signal 11
Timo, The gdb analysis is attached. It looks like memory got seriously stomped in this core dump. There was no assert or other useful information in the syslog. My setup: Solaris 9, imap and imaps, mbox format, INBOXes NFS mounted, index files on local ufs filesystem, beta8 configured like so: VERSION=1.0.beta8 CC=gcc CFLAGS="-g -O" CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/openssl/include
