IMAP ANNOTATE Extension RFC5257
Hello, Does Dovecot support the IMAP ANNOTATE Extension RFC5257 http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5257? If not, are there any plans to implement the extension? If not, why there is no plan to implement this feature? Regards Sebastian

fts_lucene - hiding lucene-indexes folder?
Hi, Is there any way to hide this folder from IMAP clients? I can see it is not runtime configurable and just #defined as LUCENE_INDEX_DIR_NAME in fts-backend-lucene.c. -- Nicholas Riley <njriley at illinois.edu>

Pigeonhole Sieve: Vacation Extension answer to every E-Mail
Hi, dont ask :) but I have two accounts for which I have to configure an auto reply for any e-mail send to it. As far as I understand Sieve yet, I do have to set sieve_vacation_min_period = 0 in the dovecot config and set the days value in the sieve rule. But as there is a limit of 1 day, I think this is not working. Right? Is there any other way to accomplish that? regards . G?tz -- G?tz

Outlook Express and STARTTLS
I have one user that uses Outlook Express. Not only do I not use it, I don't have any systems here that can easily use it. I bit of a challenge. I am strictly enforcing STARTTLS or TLS for SMTP/POP3/IMAP connections. SO far a google search has not shown me how to configure this for a user. Anyone have a pointer to instructions so I can talk the person through the changes?

Any chance to access read-only mdboxes?
We would like to provide a self-service restore function to our users using their IMAP client of choice.. Our idea was to use a snapshot (under ZFS, btrfs, whatever) and have it available to the user in a namespace. Unfortunately, but understandably, dovecot doesn't like the mdbox structure to be read-only. Is there any chance to change that? In the meantime, we could use a read-write

Setting Recent Flag on New Messages?
So I?m looking at setting up some house-keeping for my dovecot mailboxes, specifically deleting messages in trash, spam etc., by deleting Seen messages older than X days. In order to protect against the edge case of a user reading a message right before the deletion task however I?d like to do something like the following: doveadm expunge -A OLD SEEN BEFORE 7d MAILBOX Trash doveadm flags -A

Applying a DNS RBL to deny authentication?
Hope to get some attention about this idea to reduce hacking passwords. Here is a list of about 700,000 IP addresses that are hacking passwords through SMTP AUTH http://ipadmin.junkemailfilter.com/auth-hack.txt This is a list of IP addresses that attempted to authenticate against my fake AUTH advertizing on servers with no authentication. Encryption solution for messages at rest
Hi, We have clients with various security & compliance requirements. Although not required, it would be ideal to have messages encrypted at rest. We already use SSL/TLS to secure the transmission of most email. However, it would be nice to have them encrypted sitting on our server. Is anyone doing this? I think that ideally, rather than full-disk encryption, we should use an encryption that

Folder layout after Cyrus to Dovecot migration
# dovecot --version 1.2.15 We're trying to migrate a server from Cyrus to Dovecot, and we're mostly there. On Cyrus, the folder layout in the MUA is: INBOX subfolder subfolder ... Sent Drafts Queue Trash Users cannot create sibling folders to the Inbox, only subfolders (and sub-subfolders, etc). We've replicated that with:

dovecot and glusterfs
Hi, I did some experiments with dovecot on a glusterfs on the active nodes without a director. So I had concurrent access to the files. With the help of the available documentation about NFS and fcntl locks I managed to find out the following: With the plain mbox format dovecot seems to apply and to honor the fcntl locks. But since this format is not used any more in real setups, it is

Message moved to Spam folder mysteriously
Hi there, How dovecot move the message to Spam without antispam plugin installed or sieve rule to move to this folder? I have no configuration to do this. doveadm -A operations failing due to broken mdbox
I'm using "/usr/bin/doveadm purge -A" to purge the mdboxes of my users. Unfortunately this command terminates prematurely once it reaches a defective mdbox! Is there a workaround for this? Like using doveadm to get a list of valid users and then run "doveadm purge -u" on each of those? -- [*] sys4 AG http://sys4.de, +49 (89) 30 90 46 64 Franziskanerstra?e 15, 81669

sieve vacation: write to the .lda-dupes database without generating a vacation response.
I'm using Dovecot's sieve extensions quite happily, they are very good! Thanks for all who worked on them. I have a question that maybe is appropriate for a sieve-specific discussion list, so if there is one I should post to instead, please let me know: I've poked through the sieve vacation RFC and all the documentation I can find and I cannot figure out how to do this. It's

pop3 rate limit
Hi, we have customers with Exchange servers that are polling for new mail every minute with dozens of pop3 accounts. I am looking for a mechanism to rate limit this per user. So what I am looking for is a way to block users from polling, if a user asks for new mail more than every 5 minutes (for example). Is this possible? Can this be achieved within Dovecot or does it need external scripting?

Sieve "foreverypart" and "mime" extensions (RFC 5703) now implemented
Hi, I have finally managed to implement the Sieve "foreverypart" and "mime" extensions (RFC 5703). These are now included in the main Mercurial repository and will be included in the next release. I will be fixing a few minor details in the coming week; e.g., interaction with "include" and "editheader" extensions needs more work. Still, in the mean time,
