Server Migration Attempt - new messages DELETED after secondary rsyncs
Starting a new thread, as I've got a lot more details now...
First, I know this may be (or is even likely) something weird happening
with Thunderbird, but the bottom line is, I have to find a resolution or
a workaround or something, or I will be unable to pull the trigger on
the server migration. It is simply unacceptable to lose ANY mails doing
this.
Goal: migrate mailstore from old

Ignoring permission differences...
Hi all,
Ok, since 3.1 still isn't in stable, I'm curious if I can just find the
equivalent of:
rsync -avHP --delete --exclude-from '/home/user/excludes.txt'
/mnt/example.com/ /var/vmail/example.com/
But that will ignore differences in permissions - ie, won't recopy
everything, just because the permissions on the source are different
from the permissions on the target...

[OT] preferred clients
I'm getting tired of Thunderbird telling me I have unread messages in
folders that haven't gotten new messages for months so I'm looking for a
new mail client. I know the problem lies with Thunderbird because
everything is fine via RoundCube and if it tell Thunderbird to rebuild
it's index it shows the folder correctly again. Except of course for a
subset of the messages in

Dovecot, Thunderbird and messages in wrong folder
Hello,
Sometimes it happens that messages (e.g. one or two) appear in wrong
folders in Thunderbird (latest version, also past versions, different
computers, also Earlybird). When I repair the folder
(folder/Settings/Repair Folder) in Thunderbird, the folder is correct then.
It happens on my new server with Fedora 20, Dovecot 2.2.13 and Maildir
but it also happened on my old server with

Thunderbird 24.0 for Windows seems to ignore Samba4.0.9 permissions settings
Hi,
I have a CentOS 6.4 fileserver running SerNet Samba 4.0.9 with these
global settings (not overridden):
read only = No
force create mode = 0777
force directory mode = 0777
inherit acls = yes
inherit owner = yes
inherit permissions = yes
On a Windows client, I have Thunderbird 24.0 storing its profile and
mail on the Samba share. The

Dovecot/K9/Thunderbird IMAP interaction issues: replicated messages, constant reloading (TB) & missing new messages (K-9)

OT: Migration from Evolution to Thunderbird (Thunderbird mbox files)
Background is that I have been using Evolution for my MUA for a number
of years. Migrated to Evolution from Mozilla Mail. I only use Evolution
for email and contacts. Getting bored with the issues (frequently not
being able to exit and needing to kill it; Bug Buddy popping up in
GNOME, etc) that Mark (MHR) and I and I'm sure others have experienced.
About 24 hours ago, I installed

Thunderbird very slow startup, 1.2.11, mbox, postfix local delivery to /var/mail
I've Google'd to exhaustion and can't seem to find an answer to my problem.
I'm not sure if the problem is TBird 3 or my Dovecot setup.
The basic problem is that when I launch TBird and it grabs messages upon
startup, it takes forever to supposedly pull them down. Once it's got them
they sort relatively quickly into the proper IMAP (dovecot) folders. I
don't use sieve

Using Thunderbird as local mail reader
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderbird as a local mail reader.
So far I don't see any way to configure it other than as a POP3 or IMAP mail reader,
but I get my mail locally and would like to try using Tbird to read it.
What am I overlooking?
Thanks in advance!

clicking on link in Thunderbird fails to open page in Firefox
This worked fine for years until I updated firefox and thunderbird
recently. Now, however, when I click on a link in an email in
thunderbird, rather than open the indicated webpage in firefox, nothing
at all happens.
network.protocol-handler.app.http in tbird's about:config specifies the
executable /usr/lib/thunderbird/open-browser.sh and running the latter

beta8 + mbox + Thunderbird
Hi all,
I'm still using beta8 (on FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE).
Recently I put a co-worker who's using Thunderbird (1.5.0.4) on it and
he seemed to have lost some messages (which were delivered on the
spool since seen on procmail logfile).
I switched him on another server to play safe and tried to test it
myself but failed to reproduce the issue. I myself use mutt on a daily
basis with no

Thunderbird caching problem
Using a fairly simple dovecot config (which obviously needs some max limit tweaking) we have problems with IMAP synchronization between thunderbird clients.
Two TB clients in the same IMAP mailbox will, from time to time, show different views of the same INBOX folders, when TB caching is enabled. The only fix is to right-click on the folder, go to "Properties" and use the "Repair

Does anyone have any experience putting together a sane config for
Thunderbird in an automated fashion? Automated meaning "simple to

Thunderbird slow in talking with dovecot IMAP AND to sendmail
I'm trying to find out what's causing this slowdown -- it's INTOLERABLE....
over 1 minute and less than 1% done. (400MB file)...
After trying 3 times, I gave up and logged in using X to the server and
ran Tbird from there....
Mail sent out in < 1 minute, though the copy to dovecot took about 50%
longer.
So...
I looked at the network trace.

bot clang-x86-ninja-win7 missing llvm/lib/DebugInfo/MSF/LLVMBuild.txt
The latter. Unfortunately we need to get physical access and delete the
checkout. I'm afraid reverting will just reintroduce the problem and
re-break all the bots that people already took the time to fix, since going
from MSF -> Msf is the same as going from Msf -> MSF

1.0rc3 problem w/ Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 on Mac OS X
Howdy,
I'm very excited about the new dovecot release because I've been having
problems with a hang on saving messages to my sent-mail box over imap+ssl.
I installed 1.0rc3 over my 1.0rc2 install on FreeBSD 5.3 in the same
manner as all the other upgrades I've done. After checking my email,
tbird became nonresponsive and I saw this repeating in my logs ad infinitum:

Creating llvm/DebugInfo/Msf folder
Hi all,
If you don't care about Debug Info or PDB files you can stop reading now.
Just wanted to give a heads up that I'm planning to add a new folder under
DebugInfo called Msf.
MSF stands for Multi-Stream File and is the container format used by PDB
debug info files. However, MSF by itself is generic enough that it need
not contain PDB data, and in fact I can think of at least one

Creating llvm/DebugInfo/Msf folder
I actually regret doing all caps for PDB, and there seems to be mixed use
of all caps / rolling caps even with dwarf (some places say DWARF, others
say Dwarf). I don't feel too strongly aside from the minor inconvenience
of having to change thousands of occurrences where I already used rolling
caps though :-/

The bot has been failing its CMake step for a while now.
Probably fallout from renaming Msf to MSF. Can somebody
get this straightened out? It's one of the bots that run
VS2013 AFAICT which makes it useful to me.
Thanks,
