Quick Question on Autocompleter Parameters
Hello,
Is it possible to send the current value of a second form element with
the AJAX request on the Autocompleter? At the moment, I initialise the
Autocompleter on page load, so any parameters passed in the constructor
are given the value set at page load time. I need to obviously pass in
the value of the second form element when the autocompleter is called.
Does this function already exist,

I just got done trying to find some documentation on how to use the Ajax
functions in prototype and found no luck except for in this list. I am
wondering if anyone is willing to help me start a wiki for these
scripts. I have website that I will gladly use to host this. please
let me know if anyone else see''s the value in this. If everyone is up

Customized Autocompletion
In the customized autocomplete demo, how does it know what content to
use as the value of the autocomplete?
The returned UL has the name, email address and an image. Yet only the
name is used.
How does it do this? I''ve been trying to get something similar going all
morning with little success.
Also, what does :skip_style=>true do? I couldn''t seem to find a mention
of it

Fwd: Re: disable ''tab'' key wish for incremental autocomplete of textareas
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the commentary, you bring a good point to
light: I think the asynchronous nature of AJAX needs
to be looked at more carefully in our UI assumptions.
The key difference between AJAX auto-complete and any
other browser/OS autocomplete is that we can''t
guarantee having the results ready by the time the
user wants to hit TAB. In the old days we used to
have everything

bocking Effects during other effects

great script lib you''ve got there. i spent a whole day trying to code

truly mir.aculo.us library and all i ever asked for became true!
thanks!
one question though:

Ajax forms and redirects
Here is an example that seems perfect for Ajax that I have not seen
implemented nor can figure out how to do it. I am hoping someone can
give me some pointers.
On the sign-up page, I would like to do my validations (password
length, username uniqueness, etc ) Ajax-style. But if all validates,
then redirect to the success page. The combining of redirection to a
new page with Ajax is throwing me.

The Autocompleter, with scrollable result-div
Hi everyone
If you''ve seen this ticket, http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4782,
you''ve noticed I have tried to make scrollable autocompleter work. The
scrollIntoView works great, however the iframefix for IE didnt work in
the previous change. This is fixed now.
Also the "blur-on-scrollbar-click" should not work in both IE and
Safari (can someone confirm this?)
It all

RE: Leak in the Autocompleter, with scrollable result-div ?
Tommy,
Every time the Autocomplete results is blur()'d, it adds another onblur
event observer (because of "Event.observe(this.update, "blur",
this.onBlur.bindAsEventListener(this),true); // make sure blur is still
around on") which leads to a performance problem / memory leak.
(Commenting it out seems to fix this problem.)
I was wondering why it was there?
Thanks again,

Autocompletion not working in Konqueror
I''ve just had a look again at the autocompletion demo that Thomas put up
at
http://script.aculo.us/demos/ajax/autocompleter
Unfortunately, in Konqueror (3.4.1) it doesn''t work at all. Not even an
error is triggered. It does work nicely in Firefox. How about Safari?
I don''t have the time right now to track this down systematically (maybe
latter), but just from

RE: Autocompleter - up arrow moves cursor to startofinput box
The key up will make the page scroll to the top of the inputfield...
I''ve seen this myself and the reason is the changes applied in this patch:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4782
I am pretty sure it is because of this statement:
this.getEntry(this.index).scrollIntoView(true);
the "true"-makes the page scroll.... any working workinaround would be
great....

Scriptaculous Autocompleter and new values
Hello.
I''m using the Autocompleter to display suggestions when the user enters
text in an input field. Sometimes the user wants to add text that is not
among the suggestions but that is the prefix of one of the suggested
entries. What''s the best way to accomplish this (the problem is, that
the first matching entry is selected automatically and can''t be
deselected)?

scriptaculous autocompletion LIMIT and ajax vs. local
Hi,
I am using scriptaculous ajax autocompletion (not local autocompletion).
I have 2 questions:
1 - The database query being sent to the server always has LIMIT 10. I
don''t want to have a limit, but I just can''t for the life of me find
where this limit is set in the code. I did see "choices: 10" in
controls.js but that''s for autocompleter.Local, which I

Autocompleter Problems
Hi,
I''m trying to get autocomplete to work but have been having some problems.
It seems that Ajax.Autocompleter(...) is not getting called. I''ve put in a
alert in control.js:
Autocompleter.Local = Class.create();
Autocompleter.Local.prototype = Object.extend(new Autocompleter.Base(), {
initialize: function(element, update, array, options) {

autocompleter competing with saved form data in firefox
Hi all,
I have used the sciptaculous Ajax autocompleter a few times now. A
major problem I have at the moment is with a text field that has focus
when a page loads. The text field has an autocompleter associated with
it, but when the user starts typing, the firefox saved form data
autocompleter appears first, and the scriptaculous one is partially
hidden behind it.
Has anyone else encountered

Ajax.autocompleter does not narrow down choices
Hello,
I was wondering how to get the Ajax.Autocompleter to behave more like
Autocompleter.Local where it narrows the drop down as you type. The
local autocompleter seems to exhibit this behavior naturally. Am I
missing an argument somewhere?

Ajax.Autocompleter and onchange event
Hello,
currently I''m working on a JavaScript-on-screen-keyboard for use with touch screens. To autocomplete inputs I want to use the Ajax.Autocompleter control. The problem is that Ajax.Autocompleter only responds to onkeypress events made with a real keyboard, but my on-screen-keyboard causes onchange events when a letter is clicked and appended to the input field. So, is there a way to
