the seven.c.o blog and twitter
hi,
wondering if we should setup a twitter account for seven.centos.org and
have it linked into the blog code to auto tweet on new posts ? There is
a lot of great content on the blog now, and I suspect its not getting a
lot of air time.
Could we do something similar for the centos facebook groups as well ?
Regards

Windows Seven
Dear all,
I am sure this question was asked many times, but I read that Windows
Seven should work with Samba 3.2
We have SLES 11 (SuSE / Novell) and the version provided is smbd version
3.2.7-11.6-2057-SUSE-CODE11
Is it possible to join domain with Windows Seven to this version or is
it incompatible ?
I also read this, but it's not clear if 3.2.7 would also work or not ?

Windows seven
Hello,
i'm using samba 3.2.5 on debian lenny.
Our service have some windows 7 station.
I saw on the wiki (http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7) that only Samba 3.4
and Samba 3.3 worked.
Is there really no way to make work samba 3.2.5 (as domain controller)with
windows 7.
If not, what is the best way?
use backport, compile the last samba version (wich version) or wait for the next

Samba 4.2 extremely slow with (some) XP & Seven boxes
Hi there,
After an upgrade our fileservers to samba 4.2.10 (debian package), some
(but no all) of our XP and Seven boxes are extremely slow. Toggling
"require strong key" to no does not help. Our DC are still 4.1.17
(debian package)
Is there any known issue?

maybe debian bug #827141 is relevant … we've seen similiar symptoms,
recompiling samba and friends with the patch mentioned there restored
the behaviour we got with pre-badlock 4.1.17. it boils down to winbind
not re-using signed&sealed connections when pulling user information

which test for seven groups with dependency in replication and discrete values
hello!
My Problem is, that I want to compare seven groups, which have the
discrete values from 0 to 3. These are damageclasses of plants. 0 is
best and 3 is worst. Every group has 4 replications with 2 plants. The
two plants were together in a cage with animals. I think the problem is
that the two plants are not independent from each other. I don't know
which test I can use for this

Hello,
I'm trying to load a weeks worth of files that are each named by the

Seven month time-series sampled at hourly intervals
I have data from several sensors that recorded data at hourly intervals
during seven months. I want to separate daily variation from the trend,
and also be able to zoom in on only one month of data.
I have not been able what functions to use, I can not figure out from
the help for 'ts' how to use hourly data.
I guess this is routine-work for a lot of people so I hope someone can

New winetricks-alpha 20110306: new game Crysis 2 Demo and seven others, new dll dinput, lots of bug fixes; ie8 now works
Another fortnight, another Winetricks.
Version 20110306-alpha has a slightly cleaned up gui,
a handful of bugfixes and sha1sum updates,
eight new games (crysis2_demo_mp, diablo2, dragonage,
masseffect2_demo, penpenxmas, rayman2_demo, sammax301_demo, and secondlife),
one new dll (dinput),
and one new setting (vd=640x480).
It removes ie68, which is no longer needed, now that ie8 works.

Staging environment for infra with 20+ unique servers
Hello,
one of my clients has a server infrastructure with 20+ servers that
are all unique. Currently it runs without a puppet staging environment
which makes me sleep badly at night :)
The problem is: the client doesn''t have the resources to run 20
staging servers as well, and the overhead of setting up 20
virtualboxes is quite sizable (worth it to me, but I''m not teh

[infra outage] : unexpected DC issue
Due to a DC outage where some nodes are hosted, the following (public)
services provided by the CentOS Infra are currently down/unreachable :
After contact with the DC, they're trying to restore services as fast as
possible, but seems related to power outage.
More info when services will be back online, or that we'll have received

[Infra announce] : Speeding-up yum updates from inside AWS/EC2
Tomorrow, I intend to push a change to mirrorlist.centos.org nodes that
will have a (good) impact to CentOS EC2 instances running from AWS network.
Thanks to AWS, sponsoring the required backend infra for this to happen,
our mirrorlist nodes will redirect yum/dnf operations internally in the
EC2/AWS network.
What does that mean for you ?
- faster updates (due to Cloudfront caching, and so most
