flicker in IE with SlideDown/SlideUp
The flicker I am seeing in IE is really really bad with SlideDown/SlideUp.
The element I am sliding is a div that contains a table. The tables are
stacked on top of each other so that the presentation actually appears as a
single table.
When I SlideDown, the toggled element flashed into view then disappears
before sliding down. On SlideUp it slides up then flashes into view for a
split

Autocompletion not working in Konqueror
I''ve just had a look again at the autocompletion demo that Thomas put up
at
http://script.aculo.us/demos/ajax/autocompleter
Unfortunately, in Konqueror (3.4.1) it doesn''t work at all. Not even an
error is triggered. It does work nicely in Firefox. How about Safari?
I don''t have the time right now to track this down systematically (maybe
latter), but just from

problem trying to update multiple <DIV> elements with AJAX
I''ve been trying for days now to figure this out on my own, but I can''t,
so this is my cry for help. Here''s my situation: I need to update
multiple <DIV> elements on a page, each with its own HTML, but I just
can''t figure out how to get it to work. That is, I want to replace
everything within each <DIV> element with something new. When I try what

Extending the AJAX autocompleter
Hi (I think Thomas?),
I am trying to extending the AJAX autocompleter here, and would need
to pass on additional params to the Framework I am using which is
taking on the request.
For this, I have changed the onObserverEvent function in controls.js
as to the following:
onObserverEvent: function() {
this.changed = false;
if(this.element.value.length>=this.options.min_chars) {

disable Sortable
Can a Sortable be disabled/deactivated/destroyed once it''s been created?
I''ve tried a few different things with no success.
Here''s what I''m doing:
I have an ordered list. When a particular event happens, I created a
Sortable from the list. I clone the list prior to creating the Sortable so I
can revert to the original list if sorting is canceled. If, however,

Ajax.Autocompleter
I have been working with the Ajax.Autocompleter for about a day so
forgive my ignorance. Is there any value in adding additional
callbacks. I want perform an action when the user selects a choice.
So I was thinking of adding an option {select:
function(selectedElement) {}} similar to the callbacks on Ajax.Request
in the prototype library. Call me out if you think I am crazy my

Dynamic Select Box
Hi,
I''m new to rails/ruby having come from PHP and am just starting to get
my head round how easy it can be :)
However, can anyone point me in the right direction for dynamicaly
updating a select box based upon the choice of a previous select box,
without a page refresh.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

script.aculo.us Wiki update
Hi list,
So, some hard work today, but the Wiki is quickly taking shape. I''ve
now moved all the documentation I could find into it.
The URL again: http://wiki.script.aculo.us/
There are also some new features in there, like:
FAQ: http://wiki.script.aculo.us/scriptaculous/show/FAQ
Wishlist (moved from Rails wiki): http://wiki.script.aculo.us/

script.aculo.us 1.5_pre4
Today marks the release of script.aculo.us 1.5_pre4
The single biggest addition are the new effects queue and the text
effects.
Head to http://script.aculo.us/__trunk_test/test/
run_functional_tests.html and
give "effects_queue" and "texteffects_test.html" a try.
As always, loads of fixes and improvements.

helping with scriptaculous/Thomas Fuchs MIA?
Hi,
In the last few days I''ve been working a lot on rewriting the
dragdrop.js code. I''ve made changes for what I think is stronger
object-oriented design and made more parallels between how Droppbables
and Draggables are coded and instantiated. I have multiple selection
and dragging of draggables working and droppables can accept multiple
draggables in one drop. There are some

scriptaculous setting options - Speed
How do you set the options for an effect, I have multiple effects on
a page, some are small boxes but others are larger, I want to be able
to set the speed of each effect individually.
so the question is how do I have 2 effect.BlindUp objects on one page
with different speeds?
Thanks.

Tip Sheet for AJAX
Hi all,
I''m making an Amy Hoy style tip sheet PDF for the Prototype and
Scriptaculous AJAX stuff, to be used with Rails. Are there other
resources you would suggest besides the websites themselves (the
previous thread about Highlight reminded me of this)? Is there a
particular focus that would be helpful for such a document? Preferred
fonts or colors?
I must say, once you get

trunk restructuring, new util.js
Hi all,
The latetest trunk revision 1983 features are more streamlined
directory layout and a new util.js file, that acts as a collector for
stuff that doesn''t fit in elsewhere.
To get a grip at the new Builder functionality look at the test in
test/unit/builder_test.html (works only with Firefox).
Note the "klass" instead of "class", this circumvents a

Text effects
Heya,
The latest script.aculo.us trunk features an experimental text
effects feature.
See a demo here (probably broken in IE, haven''t tested):
http://script.aculo.us/__trunk_test/test/functional/
texteffects_test.html
It works like this:
The new method Effect.tagifyText(element) wraps all single characters
of all text node children (not grandchildren) of the given element in

minimal browser requirements for scriptaculous
Hi,
I noticed that the scriptaculous shopping cart demo doesn''t work in
safari 1.03.
I was wondering if there was documentation somewhere that would tell me
what my minimal browser requirements were for running scriptaculous?
I found this comparative analysis on the web:
http://wiki.osafoundation.org/bin/view/Projects/AjaxLibraries
but I think it might be a bit out of date.

a frightfully newbish question about dragdrop.js
Hi folks,
I''m in the process of updating a mostly-server-side web app to 21st century functionality, using the prototype.js etc packages.
I''m mostly a server-side PHP guy, so please pardon the level of ignorance about Javascript.
I''m having some strange problems, and right now, I''m trying to localize whether the problems are generic browser-things or whether

"Stateless" effects
I just added the patch submitted with ticket #2133 to the SVN trunk,
with slight modifications.
(And yeah, I know I said "bug fixes" only till 1.5, but this patch
probably counts as a bugfix).
Big thanks to the contributors on this!
I''ll probably will give it a second pass and will do some refactoring.
Anyone want to work on/can come up with some sort of generalized

Ajax Help: Multiple Updates - ?
Hi!
Wondering if anyone can tell me what''s wrong with my code?

divs...
Agile Web Development with Rails (p. 403) suggests using ":complete =>
eval(request.responseText) instead of :update"
I''ve attempted the following test code:
