HDD Problem....
Ok so I have a 500GB WD "Blue Scorpion" HDD that I'm trying to access via
USB, when I boot up my CentOS laptop the lights on the external USB casing
light up...and I can hear the drive making noise, but after a few minutes I
hear an abrupt "click" and the drive doesn't do anything. I can SEE it in
the Disk Utility in CentOS,...I even tried to format it from there as

Restrict Imap access
Hello. I need to restrict access to IMAP ports to a few users, so that all users can use POP3 and just a few of them will be able to access IMAP.
I use secure connections POP3s and IMAPs. Is it possible?
Also... When I connect to the Dovecot server using Outlook (IMAPs) I get a Warning message, something like:
"The server you are connectiing to uses a non verified protection certificate.

CentOS 7
Greetings all, just wondering if anyone knows if / when there will be
training materials for RHEL 7 (CEntOS7) available? The last book I was
able to purchase was the study guide for the RHSCA / RHCE exam, (by
Michal Jang!) Does anyone know if / when the next versions will be out?
I'd like to go through it all with the latest and not "last years model"
under my belt!
Thanks!

Birthday Present......he hinted he liked the CentOS logo, but where
would I find things that are branded with it?....searching the web
doesn't really help me much, only because I'm not sure what I need to be
looking for...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

2 passwords when loging from Windows 98 to samba PDC
Hello.
I have setup a local network where Windows 98
workstations authenticates against a samba
server PDC running on linux, and it is working.
But there is a little annoyance: Windows 98
is handling 2 passwords:
1) the network password (used with the samba PDC)
2) the windows password (used with the Windows
desktop)
Windows users can change their passwords from
the workstation, but the

Help in ARIMA
I am working on a data set which has the waiting times taken of jobs running
on a cluster. I need to come up with a method to use this historical data to
come up with a prediction for the future. Even probably try simulating the
full history (as in I have history of the job submission time and running
time, etc). So I can run through the actual history and at every job
submission, depending on the

Samba 3.2, Samba 3.3 release planning
Hi,
i visited wiki.samba.org and read the "Release Planning for Samba 3.2"
information and the "Release Planning for Samba 3.3" information.
So my question is:
Is samba 3.2 development stopped and all concentration given to Samba
3.3 ? Because there isnt any further release note available for 3.2, but
instead there are some notes for 3.3 ?
Bye and thanks for your

Arrggg Samba is not behaving
Dear all,
A while ago I posted a message regading the way Samba is behaving
and some problems that I was facing with Windows "loosing"
the connection with the server...
Here is another sample of what my /var/log/messages still looks like:

Segmentation fault with latest 1.1 revision
Hello,
I am trying 1.1 branch and I experience a segmentation fault upon ALRM signal.
This looks like a race condition.
I have my tincd daemon instantiated manually in if-up.d/jmuchemb (without IF_TINC_NET) and when if-up.d/tinc runs, it sends a ALRM signal that makes tincd crash.
It fails here:
Core was generated by `tincd -D -n jmuchemb -d -o ConnectTo srv -o srv.Address 81.x.y.z -o

H323 call dropped when answered
Hi All.
I'm using RedHat 9
I configured the chan_h323 and asterisk from CVS.
This is the scenario SJ_lab_phone(sip) ---------------> Asterisk
-------------> H323 GK --------------> PSTN
I have tried all codec's and always the same result, the called phone
will ring without dropping for how ever I allow it to but as soon as it
is answered it immediately gets disconnected.
