Have "system"/Hunspell dictionaries stopped working in CentOS 7 Firefox?
Until quite recently, multiple spell-checker languages were available in
Firefox on my CentOS 7 system. (They could be selected from "Languages"
under the right-click menu in text boxes.) After a recent system
upgrade, there is only "English (United States)".
I don't think I had installed any extra Firefox dictionaries as such,
but the "global" spell-checking

Having less languages in Firefox (hunspell dictionaries provide too many locales)
Hello,
on CentOS 6, I am routinely writing mails in English, German and
French and using the related hunspell dictionaries for the spelling in
Firefox (I'm using Google Apps).
This works fine but the problem is that languages are added for all
the possible locales (English US, UK, Philippines, Bostwana, Trinidad
and Tobago, Denmark (sic!), ... and German Germany, Austria... and

raspell / aspell
Has anyone had any luck getting the "add_to_personal" function of the
raspell plugin to work? I followed the instructions at http://
deezsombor.blogspot.com/2005/08/how-to-build-ajax-ed-spellchecker-
with.html to create my basic form, but trying to add words to the
dictionary doesn''t do anything (i.e. the words get marked as
incorrect the following time).

Question about aspell, alpine and a Xen guest
I have some weird behavior I can't explain... I've noticed this behavior
since CentOS 5.2 (version I started running) through 5.4...
I am running a Xen host/VM. On my guest VM, I use Alpine as my email
client and Aspell as the spell-check... For whatever reason, when Aspell
is kicked off - there appears to be what I'd call a prolonged pause before
Aspell does its job. Should I

Aspell crash
Hi
I recently extracted the spelling correction functionality from
Ultrasphinx and started to use it in Thinking Sphinx plugin.
Today I noticed that both thin instances on the server died and this is
what thin log says:

aspell(..., dictionaries) incorrectly passes double-quoted arguments via shell() [and a patch]
Hi, I think I found a bug in aspell() on Windows. Specifying argument
'dictionaries' for aspell() does not work on Windows, which I believe
is because it tries to pass a quoted command line option via shell().
THIS WORKS:
# Create a text file to be spell checked
> writeLines(c("Hello", "world", "ANOVA"), con="text.txt")

Region subtag in package 'Language' field
I am looking for the appropriate field to let package authors to
declare the pkg documentation language for spell checkers. The most
important case is to specify a preference between "en-US" or "en-GB"
which can be used by the hunspell or spelling pkg to select the
appropriate dictionary.
WRE defines the "Language" field for documentation language, but from

[PATCH v2] python: Fix UnicodeError in inspect_list_applications2() (RHBZ#1684004)
The python3 bindings create unicode objects from application strings
on the guest (i.e. installed rpm, deb packages).
It is documented that rpm package fields such as description should be
utf8 encoded - however in some cases they are not a valid unicode
string, on SLES11 SP4 the following packages fail to be converted to
unicode using guestfs_int_py_fromstring() (which invokes
